What's the use of having a microphone if you're going to yell for the entire video?

Why did we get rid of him again?

Looks like Jerry West's prediction of him becoming better than RJ Barrett is right

Aight lotta moving parts here but hear me out

If Mikal isn't going to sign the extension

4 team Trade:

Mikal to Houston - Win now mode adding secondary scoring and defense to their starting lineup
Mitch to Lakers - Lakers need a Big Man/rim runner to pair with Luka and Bron. Mitch can be unlocked with actual threats to lob him the ball in transition.
Deuce + WASH 1st to Minny - Saves them some money after spending a pretty penny on Naz
Donte + Jabari + Cam Whitmore + DFS to NY

This would open up some financial flexibility to add to the roster while becoming deeper and better defensively, and maintaining shooting around Brunson and KAT.

Use the TPMLE on Dennis Schroeder and Sign Larry Nance his Vet Min of 3.6 mil or Jock Landale if he is indeed waived

Bring back McCullar.

25/26 Money:
Kat - 53.1 mil
OG - 39.5 mil
Brunson - 34.9 mil
Hart - 19.4 mil
DFS - 15.3 mil
Jabari - 12.3 mil
Donte - 11.9 mil + 700k in unlikely incentives
Schroder - 5.6 mil
Nance - 3.6 mil
Dadiet - 2.8 mil
McCullar 2.2 mil
Kolek - 2.1 mil
Huk - 1.9 mil

That's $205.3 mil committed 2nd apron is $207,824,000

That gets us to 13 players and still 2.5 $mil under the 2nd Apron.

C: Kat/Nance (or Landale)/Huk
PF: Jabari/DFS/Nance
SF: OG/Hart/Dadiet
SG: Donte/Hart/Whitmore
PG: Brunson/Schroder/Kolek

Insert New Coach with a system.

Run it

I think Mikal >> Donte/Whitmore and Mitch >> Jabari so I don’t do this trade. Thibs has hurt Mikal’s trade value… he’s better than he’s shown last season. I want to keep Mikal.

We won’t see the success of the Mikal trade until he is with a new coach, not spotting up in the corner.

I’m excited to see him in more movement based sets as well as optimizing the others on the roster.

When Brunson was out, we saw how good OG was when he wasn’t just spotting up.

I’m hyped for this coming season

I’d prefer to keep him as well, this is more about being flexible in the event he doesn’t sign his extension. Losing him for nothing in FA would REALLY hurt.

I do think he’ll be better under a new coach and a different system but I will say some of his deficiencies weren’t coaching imo.

His unwillingness to finish at the rim isn’t a coaching issue. It’s a Mikal issue.

grimes was a starter who wasn't aggressive enough on offense for thibs, not restricted by him. like frank, he often played scared. i think he got traded because he wasn't attacking as asked. we needed scoring. nice to see him do it in philly silly season. but he got a lot of opportunities in new york. if anything, thibs was the only coach so far who gave him a real shot. would love to see him sustain while playing meaningful basketball.

as for obi, that seems more a hamsterdam/ex-players discussion. how much did you want to pay for a backup to randle at the time? he plays a little more in indiana because they play him next to siakam, as p can play some 5. it would be one thing if you could rely on randle to do that.

so, both trades/transactions still make sense to me.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

Moving Obi was required to have the capspace to sign Donte

Moving Grimes for Burks and Bojan was pretty weak but it allowed us to trade for Mikal. Probably could've used Grimes in the Mikal deal but Fournier had negative value at that point.

Grimes was also injured towards the end of the 2024 year so not sure he would've made a playoff impact.

All this is moot just wanted to point it all out

It's possible, but it would be challenging without losing something noticeable.

Could we trade OG to a team, get back a TPE and something useful?
Not my favorite idea, but along another line of thought: OG, Deuce out. Claxton, Donte in.
Mitch/Claxton/Huk
KAT/???
Bridges/Hart/Pac/McCullar
Donte/Shamet
Brunson/Kolek/Payne

The Donte obsession on here is weird now, he has proven he's not that good off the bench and was borderline unplayable against the Thunder.

Return to New York Knicks
