Lou played harder than any other player on our team game in, game out last year. I hope he stays with us for a few years. Between his energy and the story in the NYT a few months back about how he has never had a home and is always being traded/released/etc, I hope he finds a home in NY.

We got plenty of guys for the PF position. We were never going to sign a stud at that spot to block Kris anyway.

these type of signings are underrated. It's always important to surround the team with high characters who play hard during the good and bad times. Players who are ready whether they play 5 minutes or 50 minutes. They go a long way in character building.

I like that they rewarded the hard working, team oriented guys with a few extra dollars. I think those sort of gestures, while not a huge amount of $, go a long way.

Also, I see that posters are clamoring to sign this guy, get that guy, but you have to consider it's a 15 man roster, with Thanasis potentially taking one spot, and even if there is a deal where he goes to Europe, there are still only so many roster spots and 3 guys never suit up, and the 12th player almost never plays, so yes, you want some young guys to develop, but you also want some solid professional guys who don't mind if they are in a suit sometimes, or not getting big minutes, but will stay ready and be positive and contribute when called on.

Shved might be able to make a few more bucks in the short term overseas but if he comes back for the $2.8 with the exploding cap he has the potential of making much more in the US than he can elsewhere with those foreign options still available to him in the future if he fails to impress enough for the big offer.

I think if the Knicks offer him the $2.8 slot, he takes it... but do they offer it? We will see.

calderon, afflalo, grant, galloway. if they sign shved, someone will be the 5th guard.

for real though, with the assumption that Melo/Lopez are basically locked in to positions and KP rounds out the front court, we are limited in our FA hunt to PG/SG. We can consider Lopez a player who is movable, but the bigger issue for me is even if by some pipe dream coming true and we get Kevin Durant here, what happens then?

yeah i think the same was with Cole. Maybe we offered Cole what we offered Lou but Cole wants to play and rightfully so. He was going to be the 3rd center here.

Same with Shved. With Thomas and Amundson getting 1.6 million I got to think Shved is being offered the 2.8 room exception. The question is can the knicks guarantee him playing time. Right now he would be the 5 guard on our roster. He might rather go somewhere overseas for similar $$$ so he can play.
