I respect you changing your mind and/or adjusting your thinking the way you have. I have one other suggestion to make though: The reason perhaps that you don't think he'll be elite is because he doesn't have a smooth jumper and wasn't drafted high or scouted heavily.
That label never leaves a player in any sport.
Everybody always doubted Mark Jackson for similar reasons. But he just kept producing. Lin will be similar, although he's already on his way to being a better offensive player/scorer than MJ.
If Rubio, AKA El Nino Preguntarse, had the game that Lin did tonight, then everybody (almost to a man) would be saying that it's a sure sign that Rubio will be elite.
It's just built-in expectations but Lin will continuously prove those expectations wrong. It's just his initial price tag but as we've seen with Felton's initial lottery player price tag, that price can be very wrong (especially for point guards).
This is very true.
For example, John Wall has yet another thread on the general board about him "finally breaking out" a thread that's made every time he has a good stretch...then he reverts back to his mean. A perennial 4 TO per game PG who can't shoot a lick (7% from 3 last season, 15% this season) yet because he has athleticism and was drafted high everyone still thinks he's going to be a top 5 PG.
On the flipside, Lin will always be considered mediocre, even though his play shows otherwise.
People saying his ceiling is Conley...
Conley has never put up 38-7 against the Spurs or had any sort of stretch bordering Linsanity...he's putting up numbers about par with Lin except he doesn't have to share the backcourt with a ball-domiant SG/PG combo in Harden. He's never had stretches of pure dominance on both ends of the court like Lin has had at times. The fact Lin's numbers are about even with Conley yet he had a TERRIBLE beginning to the season on a new team, learning a new role and coming back from injury tells me Lin is already better than Conley. Conley's played on Memphis for years and didn't have any learning curve to go through this year nor is he coming back from injury.
If Lin is already on par or slightly better than Conley, that means people think he's hit his ceiling already, which is pretty ridiculous seeing as he's barely started a single season's worth of games.
If you take into account Lin was shooting in the 30's percentage wise in FG and in the 20's in 3-point for the first 2-3 months of the season, the fact he's brought those dismal numbers up to his current 44% FG and 32% from 3 means he's been shooting extremely well the 2nd half of the season.

especially coming after all those sub 35% shooting games he's had all season. Man. What a sensation. And he's only 25?? Damn. Most guys dont blossom until 32. Lin will definitely become the next John Nash Stockton-Paul.
Well after Regis game Lin's shooting at a healthy clip of 44% and 53.8TS, slightly above average but compare to his first month shooting draught, that's pretty respectful.
Btw Lin is 24

nobody said a gotdamn thing about Felton, though. Stop deflecting. Your boy is trash, and you clowns ONLY show up when he has his bi-weekly good game, yet are MIA when he shoots his normal 22% from the field. Disgusting behavior.
these dudes are gonna hold that 38 point game close to their hearts forever, no matter if he is out of the league in 2 years
Worst Lin hater on these boards. 22% = "normal" yet Lin's shooting 44% for the season. OK bro.

Just dont forget to post in here and go crazy in the next game against GS when he shoots 4-13 and has 4 assists. Be sure to write a thesis paper in here on that and how he's the next Jesus Nash Magic Christ. I can't wait for that post.

Just relax dude, who cares. You acted like Lin came in to your house, kicked your dog, slapped your mum and shagged your sister then you had to pay for his parking ticket.
If you don't like him, don't follow him, don't come to the thread arguing with people, get a life, move on.

Lin's improved a lot but he turns into a below to average level PG during those back to back nights. It'll be interesting how good he will get in 2 year. He will have the stamina to play more minutes and get bigger stat sheet.

Where did I say you didn't have the right to discuss him? Are you high?
Look at your own posts, you've tried everything. You listed false stats, exaggerated his weaknesses, called him trash --- you've done your job, just relax and let it go. At least don't come back until Lin has a bad game.

thing is, I dont post when he has a bad game anymore. Its become normal for him to be completely average and adequate. Its YALL who go off the rails whenever he has an above average night every couple weeks or so.

Yeah// I was expecting him to hit a wall (because he never played enough in his rookie year to experience hitting the rookie wall).. but instead he's hitting that mini wall on the back end of back to backs..

I think it has to do with the running style of play. The whole Rockets team, including Lin, I suspect are more tired after each game than many players on a lot of other teams. It seems like a logical problem for any team that plays a high pace style. If you count the number of laps each player does back and forth per game the Rockets players are probably high up there. If a team plays at a slower pace (Knicks, Nets, Grizz, etc.) then back to backs are probably not as problematic (though probably still challenging, particularly if going against a rested team).

McHale often sits Asik and Lin during 4th quarters -- which is controversial with Rockets fans -- but maybe it has to do with conditioning? Neither have started a full season before.

Re: around the nba part 5
I think it does. If you look at his splits he does worse in games with 32+ minutes and back to backs. The Rockets are big with their saber-toothed metrics people so that's an easy one to catch.

Yeah that plays into it as well.. I just think he's not used to playing this many minutes over the duration of the season.. his stamina should be better next season and his knee shouldn't have a problem bouncing back on back to backs as well.
