Re: Around the NBA - the sharp end of the playoffs - Randle snubbed for All NBA
I don't like the Celtics but I cannot say I hate them like I hate Miami, Chicago, Brooklyn, Indiana and Atlanta. I really REALLY hate those teams and wish them ill. That's never going to change.
I'm not a baseball guy so I don't care about the Redsox but I'm a diehard New York Giants fan and I'm very grateful of the Patriots for obvious reasons. But back to the Celtics, one of my earliest memories of a Knicks fan was Game 5 in 1990 in Boston. Those Pitino Knicks team sparked my interest in basketball, even though I attended many games in the late 80s but I wasn't super into it.
Throughout the Ewing era, the Celtics were never really a rival. We dominated them. I did dislike the KG/Pierce/Allen Celtics but that was long ago. I could care less about Tatum and these particular Celtics but I do want GSW to win simply because it makes KD look even worse for leaving. And I hate KD much MUCH more than the Celtics right now.

Thats where I am with it. I see no reason to hate this Celtics team just because Imma Knick Fan.Also Its rare for Black Head Coaches to win a Ring in the NBA.... Im not going to root against that for the fact its the Celtics.
This isnt Yankees Red Sox or Giants, Eagles/Cowboys etc. The Knicks and Celtics havent been a rivalry in over 20 years. I may hate them one day, but its not today
Last time it was a rivalry was back in 2013. Melo said beating them in the playoffs felt like he won a chip
It’s been awhile since the Knicks have had a legit rivalry. We are just sad. The Boston dislike is more for all sports, their fans, etc. But at this point it’s hard for me to care too much given the Knicks. I just want to see a good series.
Yeah I want to see a good series as well. I am rooting for the Boston players and Udoka to win though. They're pretty likeable. It seems like the rivarlies with Boston stems from baseball and other sports, and I don't watch none of them

Celtics Knicks goes back to Clyde Days before I was even born. Celtics was never the Knicks Rivals in the 90s when I first started watching basketball.
I hate the warriors more than any dislike for a Boston Basketball team, so its easy for me to want to see them lose regardless to whom or what. I can islolate them for now outside of the actually NYC vs Boston rivarly the actual cities have.
Im more jealous of the celtics than a person who hates them. We are supposed to be in the same class as a franchise and we not.
Growing up a Knicks/Mets/Giants fan in the city I never understood the Boston hate. Then I became an adult and actually moved to Boston and many other cities around the country, and I can report from three decades of observation that Boston fans are universally the worst. I was shocked at the racism in Boston, and it’s still pretty predictable which random (old pasty or young fratty white) dudes will be Celtics fans as I travel the country. If I were a Knick fan who likes Tatum, I’d do like all the C’s fans who secretly voted for Trump — keep my mouth shut about it.
Bruh NYC is racist. I don’t know why people act like NYC is not some racist city. I’m black and I experienced racism in this city my whole life. This is not the racism Olympics here, I could care less if Boston is more perceived than NYC as being racist cause in many ways it’s not. This citie has a huge history of racism way more than Boston does if you start going into historical context.
People act like they forgot the original purpsose of Wall Street. The only reason why whites fled this city to move to Long Island was because blacks were moving into “ their “ neighborhoods. They could not stand blacks being around them.
Do I need to bring up what happens to Yusuf Hawkins? smh.
NYC is just as racist as Boston it just hides it better.

The reason why spike lee did this was to show how racist NYC is. It’s ridiculous that people think NYC is an angel and BOston is the devil when it comes to schit like this…..

Rosedale wasn't the only racist neighborhood in the mid 70's etc, but it surely was one of the worst.
My aunt lived there.
She was a decent person and I never saw or heard her say anything bad, but neighbors of hers I met, and their kids? Damn.
I've met enough people from the Boston metro area in my life to feel like it's worse though, but agreed, does that really matter?

Look, I’m not about to defend NYC’s racist history. I’m no expert or cultural anthropology professor or anything, but I’m just letting you know the stone-cold reality of the fact that many white people all around the country root for the Celtics because their name and logo is a European clan and because the face of their franchise used to be the Great White Hope.
I like Tatum too. I especially like Coach Idoka. But that doesn’t make it any less obnoxious that old MAGA white men casually root for the Celtics in sports bars across the country or that a new generation of Barstool frat-boys come out of Boston.
I realize there are many kinds of Celtics fans and they’re not all racists. But go to a Knicks road game and you’ll see every color in the rainbow decked out in orange/blue. Pan the crowd in San Francisco on Sunday and tell me you see a single face in green that isn’t white.
I’ll cop to hating those f’ckers for more than half my life now and maybe I’m just old and things have changed. But try asking Magic Johnson or Bill Russell what they think about Boston Celtics fans. Try asking all the high-fiving white dudes at that random *California* sports bar I caught the game at last night why they root for the Celtics.
Imagine Staten Island without people of color. That’s Boston. Now imagine the New York Knicks were called the Staten Island Romans. Those are Celtics fans.

I have no knowledge of what NYC was like in 70s but I know it was far from the only neighborhood in NYC. Brooklyn was just as bad then I heard as well. I came across this video after it blew up again cause the NY times did a story on it a few years ago. My point being is that this city is hiding under the fact that its not racist, and I have learned that NYC history is DRIPPING with racism. It just sweeps it under the carpet like it never happened.
As I black man I dont sit there and be like this racisim is better than the other. I have experienced to much of it in my own personal life to turn an eye to my own city to be like Boston "same on you".
There is a book called the hidden history of New York that changed my whole eyes on NYC. It actually spoke on events that happened in the movie gangs of NY at the end before it came out and why it happened.

Again I’m no historian or city-planning expert, but I know from grad school in Boston that Logan Airport was built with three glass walls overlooking white Boston and one brick wall facing the projects. I also know the T (subway) was designed specifically to keep black neighborhoods away from all others.
I mean they literally named their team because back in the day Irish Americans historically ran that town. I’m just saying, it’s 2022 and their fanbase still nauseates me.
I got a real kick last round out of Celtics fans not knowing how to react to Pat Conoughton or that flagrant-foul Duke troll they all wish they had.

Harlem has something similar in how it was settled that the only reason why blacks were at the top of Manhattan was they were used by whites as a "wall" to protect them from the Indians invading to take back Manhattan. They knew the Indians would not wage war on Black people to get to them. When I learned this my mind was blown....
Just like NY there is a Book called the Hidden History of Massachusetts its pretty deep as well and sickening.

The way they were able to stop the Warriors penetration was concerning to me. They were so worried about getting stripped they couldn't hit layups. Better performances/adjustments from Green and Looney in particular are needed. I wouldn't expect Smart and Horford to keep it up but Tatum should rise. This series will be a battle at best for the Warriors.
sure, that game didn't go that well for the warriors and Tatum will for sure be better shooting wise.
but White, Smart, Horford, Prichard and Theis were 18/27 (!) from three and they hit their first 7 threes in the fourth quarter. I really laughed in front of my tv. that was insane. will be close series but i think warriors are going to win in 6.

I love the Champion's League. Great theater with unbelievable skill and drama.
I loved this year's Final. Liverpool had the most chances but I thought Real were in full control of the match after the 30th minute. It was a nice clash of styles. The lead-up to the goal was brilliant.
