Not saying he's great or anything but this team has no true shooter
1 thing you can't rip Calderon for his shooting. Over 40 percent from 3 in his career.
When the doubles start coming to Melo and zinger you will be happy that Calderon is on the court draining 3s

Hopefully you are right on Jose and a bounce-back year --- I think most on here would be thrilled with that scenario.

The thing I keep coming back to is that even with a great shooting year --- he doesn't make anybody better with the ball in his hands, he doesn't pressure the basket, he can't defend, doesn't rebound and doesn't really even take chances to get people shots.

He is a very prideful player and he never made excuses last year -- I could see him putting in huge amounts of gym time this year and playing better. Hopefully that is the case and then we can talk about moving him at the deadline or next summer.

I tend to normally agree with the hard working type guys but we are over-loaded with those guys right now.

I went back and looked at game 3 the other day --- specifically at Ledo.

He came into the game and immediately got into the lane and found Wear for a wide-open 3 (missed) - then next possession he got into the paint again and kicked to Early for a wide open 3 on the right wing (missed). The next possession he came down on the strong side triangle and made a bounce pass into Wear in the post - but Wear was lazy/flat-footed and his guy moved around him to steal the ball.

Later in the game Ledo hit the big 4-point play when we were down 7 with about 4 mins to play.

I'm not sure if his playing time has been minimal because he's not in the plans or if they believe he is in the plans but he has a better combination of ball handling, penetration, shooting and size then all of our guards outside of Grant.

He and Williams represent potential upside offensively --- I don't know that he is on the outs just yet. Not sure a guy like Elliot Williams is better in any respect to a Ledo at 22(?).

he's averaging 3 turnovers a game and less than 1 assist a game. Unless I am not seeing something.

He is reckless with the ball and always has his head down when he dribbles. He's got that high cross over which sometimes is effective but can be extremely turnover prone. He really doesn't provide much unless he gets hot from the perimeter.

Even last year on the knicks he didn't even have a 1 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. He really isn't a playmaker. He can score occasionally but that is pretty much the end of his skillset. He doesn't rebound, pass well, or defend.

Yeah - he's had a few careless / unforced passes but not easy to come in and play 10-12 minutes with a bunch of non NBA guys -- for the most part he's been out there with all the scrubs and has not had big minutes to play off Grant or with Gallo that often. I mean if we are basing just off summer league Gallo has looked very poor offensively and missed open guys all over the gym.

Ledo has talent -- I think he is seeing/finding guys but no buckets to show. He's also getting into the lane at 6'5" and can finish in there. I think he's been solid defensively -- I mean I don't think it was him who Wilbicken lit up the other day.

We shall see -- not sure if Ledo makes it but only 22, talented, size and he's is in good shape right now.

Get some vets for the Bench man. We got youngins already on the team.

Sign Jason Terry & Kendrik Perkins

These guys can step in and stabilise us in case of injury and will be key mentally for playoffs and big games.

That leaves 1 spot for a summer league scrub you all cry over

I rather go for another Vet like Andre Miller

Andre Miller
Jason terry
Kendrik Perkins

PG: Jose / Galloway / Miller
SG: Affalo / Grant / Terry
SF : Carmelo / Early / Lance
PF : Williams / Prozingas / Lou
C : Lopez / Quinn / Perkins

Now that is a solid team. Get those 3 Vets who can still play, mentor , lead and are vocal.

As far as scoring ...
I'm sure Phil is banking on a few guys overachieving

Melo - 25 ppg
Affalo - 16 ppg
Lopez - 12 ppg
Williams - 12 ppg
Prozingas- 10 ppg
Jose - 10 ppg
Grant - 8 ppg
Galloway - 8 ppg
Quinn - 10 ppg

That's 105 ppg as a team so give or take a few of those players stats but not unreasonable

Plus he creates contact on drives and gets to the line.

"J.J. Barea has signed a four-year, $16 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

Barea originally agreed to sign a two-year, $5.7 deal with the Mavericks with the cap room exception but the sides negotiated a new deal after DeAndre Jordan backed out of his deal."

WHAT?!?! No way is he worth that! He is nearing the end of a lukewarm career and is getting paid 4 mil per? Wow, just wow!

Why are the Mavs giving more money to the guys they already had agreements for less for?

The Mavs are trying to be the poster child for being mediocre.

maybe Cuban thinks he can draw future free agents by showing that he does right by his own guys?

maybe this is a signal that they view JJ as just a big a puzzle piece as Deron?

maybe they figure they can lock up JJ long term at at a low price that it will be beneficial?

IDK.. just some guesses. Definitely weird.

I would be furious if I was a mavs fan.

Not only because I lost out on DJ. But then my organization is just giving more $$$ to players...just because?

Maybe he just threw some names around the table.

I know sportsworldreport is crap, but they quoted him.

if Phil actually has/had interest in J-Smoove I cant imagine it now.
Prior to signing D-Will wouldve made more sense.
