You know Pharm, I can't blame you for seeing it that way. People lie. I just think Melo is smarter and more Mature than Lebron. Lebron made an immature decision that he will regret when he becomes wiser. Lebron admitted to Melo that he made a mistake in the way he handled his exit. When he evolves as a human being he will realize his other mistake...
Melo however, understands the magnitude of winning in NY. Plus, NY is part of his core. I believe Melo when he says it's his ultimate dream.
Were there any direct quotes from owners about where Lebron wanted to be? I'm not trying to convince you -just asking the question...
dont get me wrong, melo to NY is a dream scenario for both invovled and Id support it (unlike others who are against melo)
having said that, I dont believe anything until the dotted line is signed, a lesson learned from the lebron saga last summer
This is nothing like the LeBron saga though.
- LeBron only flirted with us by making comments like "MSG is the greatest arena in the world," and wearing Yankee caps. In the end, we read too much into his actions and statements, when all he was really saying was "I want out of Cleveland," and not "I want out of Cleveland to go to NY."
- LeBron wasn't born in NY and has no ties to NY. He didn't play college ball in NY. He doesn't have a wife born and raised in NY.
- NY didn't have a good team when they were pitching to LeBron. I mean seriously, the only returning players we had on a 29-win team was Gallo/Chandler, and we had to try and sell LeBron on resurrecting this franchise. I remember I was in agreement with you back in June that we needed to make more moves like a Collison/Okafor trade cause LeBron wasn't going to be convinced by our roster. Luckily we didn't make those moves cause Collison/Okafor is no DWade/Bosh.
But we're not asking Melo the same. We're asking him to team up with Amar'e and Felton and be the missing piece to push us to a contender. We're not asking him to be our savior.
- We also have ZERO competition now too. LeBron had a lot of suitors, a lot of choices. Now that the Nets are out of the picture, we're the only team remaining, and we'd be stupid to bid against ourselves, especially when Melo WANTS to be a Knick. The only thing that will stop that from happening is Denver's spitefulness and changes in the new CBA that prevent us from signing him in the offseason.
