And you know this (Dolan left Donnie's office after the game), how?

If we get JR back, I'm cool with it.

This MeloDrama has been compared to a game of chicken or a game of poker, and it could come down to a matter of who blinks first -- the Knicks, the Nuggets, or Anthony himself. But remember, when the Knicks were trying a year ago to acquire the cap space (through the Tracy McGrady trade) to make a run at two max-salary free agents, it was Walsh who blinked in the end and relinquished everything the Rockets were demanding.

Difference is that he blinked for a CHANCE to sign a Lebron or Wade. In this case, we are AUTOMATICALLY getting an elite player.

I'd rather keep Fields and leave them with JR for a couple reasons.

1.) Keeping Gallo over Fields doesn't make sense... we need a SG more than another SF and Gallo/Melo play the same position.
2.) Denver needs a SF, not another SG... they already have Afflao/JR.
3.) I like JR but he's a bit of a ball stopper... and with Melo/Amare on the same team I think we would have enough of that already.

Couldn't Melo settle this whole thing and make the selling price really low, thus not gutting the roster by just buying a place in NYC now, before a trade...his wife is from here anyway

My head is going to explode. This whole process is mentally exhausting. I've been able to get almost no work done the past two weeks because I've been zoned in on the Melo situation. Can't wait for this to be over.

All I have to say is that no doubt this is the nets management throwing their name out there again to get the knicks to give up more. Like I said earlier we are bidding against ourselves and I really hope Dolan doesnt get his nose into what Donnie is best at and thats negotiating.

This guy Chris Broussard is like the ugly girl at school who's friends with all the hot chicks and decides to start rumors in order for her to get some attention. It is ridiculous if he believes the nets have a chance in this thing.

This deal needs to get done. I fully believe Melo may get mad and in fact go somewhere else. He has put himself available to the knicks, they need to go get him PERIOD. Its not like well we can get him in the summer THERE IS NO GUARANTEE!!! NO GUARANTEE!!! Obviously I understand why we love our role players. Its been a whole decade since we have been decent, but people we are .500 Team!! The goal is to win a championship! We need to get over ourselves and make a deal.

Nyk: Curry, Randolph (for a pick to Min), Felton, Chandler/fields/gallo (2 of the three) Id like to only give one but im being realistic

Den: Billups, Melo.

Btw billups would make perfect sense!! I know he is 34 but he is just a stopgap until cp3/dwill. Felton was the same thing, I believe Billups can be better then felton for what we need which is the rest of this year and next year. Again I am not one for trading the house but lets be realistic, the goal is not to be a 45 win team, the goal is to win a championship. While we will not win this season with melo, we can put ourselves in position to have a 3-4 year title run, if not longer.

Message to the Knicks: GET THIS DEAL DONE NOW!

Frankly speaking, rigth now is the time for Melo to stop worrying about his image (to late for that), and come out and publicly and definitively state his desire. Enough is really enough. Denver clearly don't give a flip about his choices, so Melo shouldn't give a flip about theirs. Enough already!

Realistically, he has a reason to care about his image. He also has a right to get his money. Remember Amare is on a 5 year, almost 100 million dollar deal, if he gets his $$ y cant melo get his?

THIS HAS GOT TO GET DONE! Role players are replacable top 5 talents are not!

I haven't been paying attention to these threads, but why should we bother to trade for Melo at all at this point? Under what circumstances does he not sign with us in the offseason?

My ultimate concern is at the end of the day he signs that extension. Its very hard to pass up that kind of money. He is not LBJ whos basketball income is only a very small percentage of his total income. Melo is big and gets endorsements and especially in nyc he will make lots of money, but he wants that contract.

The pitch that the Knicks gave to Lebron last summer would've been a much better pitch to Melo for this coming summer. In the offseason, if Melo is so worried about losing guaranteed money, he should know that he can more than make up for it thru endorsements and for his wife to have a better career as well.

what trade would you rather do?

a) gallo, fields, curry, ar (1st rounder) for melo, filler (no big contracts, no real talent coming back)

b) chandler, felton, curry, ar (1st rounder) for melo, billups

im sure other little pieces would be going here and there, but this would be the basic idea for either deal.

According to a Knicks official, Denver wants Raymond Felton, Landry Fields, Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari — four of their top six players — for Carmelo Anthony and an aging Chauncey Billups. The Nuggets have also asked about Timofey Mozgov.

The price is too high for the Knicks. It would damage the roster, leaving Anthony and Stoudemire without a supporting cast.

Donnie Walsh, the Knicks’ president, has been willing to part with one top rotation player — Chandler or Gallinari — in addition to Eddy Curry’s expiring contract and a draft pick. The Knicks believe they are dealing from a position of strength, armed with the knowledge that Anthony wants to play in New York and could by signed as a free agent this summer.
