I am absolutely not done with the Knicks if they don't match Lin. I liked Lin and was hoping to see him back under the terms of the original contract offered by the Rockets. But the way I see the current situation is that Glen Grunwald is skating circles around other GM's, even the "brainiac" Morey. The Raptors and Rockets tried to play us by jacking up the price on our players, and both got stuck holding the bag. So much for Morey's brilliant plan of not overpaying players who aren't "franchise cornerstones." With the Felton deal, Grunwald owned him so bad. Felton may actually be better than Lin for all we know. I'm by no means a Lin hater, but he's being tendered a contract that will pay him 15 MILLION DOLLARS on the back end. This based on what, twenty-something odd games in MDA's speedball, no-D system?

Keep up the good work Glen GODwald.

Just wanna add that you haven't seen a Knicks championship either if you've been a fan since 1980.

Ya know, just saying.

Basically. I won't follow them. Fan still yes but not an active one -- I'll be on indefinite leave.

1) Too depressing to watch the games.

2) No chance at a title.

3) Self-defeating -- we would have done it to ourselves.

4) It is evidence that we really don't have a clue -- that something is fundamentally wrong with how we're run and that will always hold us back.

there comes a point where enough is enough. Dolan is NEVER selling the team and will continue to operate like the spoiled rich kid in need of instant gratification he is.

You Knick fans should be thrilled if Lin isn't matched. A lot of salary for a player that was more hype than substance.

It's time to realize, that D'Antoni point guards play over their heads. Even Steve Nash.

Nash, Raymond Felton, Chris Duhon, and Jeremy Lin all had career years playing under D'Antoni. Nash won two MVPs, and while he was good without D'Antoni...he wasn't an MVP caliber player. Felton was having a huge year under D'Antoni, by far the best of his career. Has been an utter flop when not playing in that system.

And Duhon? Actually looked decent under D'Antoni, putting up 11 ppg and 7 apg in a full season. Now he's back to being the unwatchable crap pile that he always was.

Lin is better than what he was doing before NYK, but he's really just a backup caliber player that Houston will pay waaaay too much money for.

Not a future star. Not even someone who will be able to keep a starting job.

You're not making a mistake, you're about to dodge a huge bullet.

Mo is right grow up. You can say that about 2/3rds of the other teams in the NBA too. One team wins per season.[/quote]
All im saying is that one team will NEVER win the championship will be the New York Knicks as long as Dolan is running the show .
Now tell me where im wrong ?!
Its your choice if you want to follow this team into medicority for the next few decades , ive served my time and relied on false hope .

I will no longer spend my time/money/emotions on this team when they do not match and you can hold me to it !
And ill say it again for anyone who didnt hear me .
I dont even think Lin is an all star/superstar type player , but hes young , has potential to be BETTER , and fits a position that we NEED !!
Could also be a trade asset .
But we're being financially responsible nowwww ?
lmao

Can someone explain to me how Lin gives us a shot at a title. A guy who played 26 games, had a stretch of 8 or so good ones then got shut down once people saw what he could do. A person with NO playoff experience.
I seriously don't get it. Why do people think he can bring us the title, especially if this team is in win now mode and isn't looking to develop players.

I'd still be a Knick fan but I'd know now that I'll never see a Championship under this regime.

-I've seen Ewing treated like ****
-Camby and Spree shown the door
- Anderson and Eaisly Contracts
-Jerome James and Eddy Curry
- Isiah Thomas

I wouldn't blame anybody if they just became NBA fans

This is different though. Lin went and asked for a lot more money when he found out Knicks would match the offer. He is getting a ridiculous contract, Melo is right about that. It's not like the Knicks are treating him like sh*t. He went and tried to get more money, and he will get it in Houston.

We'll be in cap hell if we match that.

What you fail to understand we are ALREADY in cap hell with Amare Tyson and Melo !
This is why you keep Lin if nothing else atleast for a trade chip .
Its just idiotic to let him leave for nothing .

The purported mass exodus of "fans" from this board may actually be worth losing a young promising pg. I have a headache.

Lin played great under Woody as well. I don't get your logic here. D'Antoni guard? You mean like Nash?

Felton had a great year then was tailing off badly the 10 games or so before he was traded. The newness wore off.

By just watching the games it was clear to see Lin was something special. He would be another closer and x factor for us. If we don't match, that is gone. We are not winning a championship with Fatso as our PG. Kidd as backup is great, but he is declining sharply.

No dodging a bullet, it's getting in front of one - letting Lin go. You don't let assets walk regardless. Landry is gone - now that is a bad contract. But just think of what Landry is worth, just add it to what Lin was worth, and that is about what Lin was offered. So what has really changed since we aren't signing Fields now? I say Lin wasn't in the plans with Woody at the helm.

Return to New York Knicks
