Knicks need something new because what we have is not working. I thought Shump would have been the 2-3 option this year. We really don't have anything at sg right now. Smith is playing horrible and Shump is not taking over. I like that the Knicks are finally looking at someone under the age of 30. Shump is the only tradeable person on the team so he would have to be the one that goes.

"An ESPN.com report stated the Cavaliers asked about Shumpert as they shop young guard Dion Waiters. The Knicks aren’t interested in Waiters as they are looking for frontcourt help, not another shooting guard."

lmao

The team has no idea what's wrong

OK I admit I could be wearing my orange Syracuse goggles but I take Waiters over Shump..and I'm a big Shumpert fan. Just feel like Shump doesn't have the handles to ever become more than a very, very good role player 2-3. A very rich man Tony Allen type. Having watched Waiters at Cuse and a bit with the Cavs he has a great handle and is a very good passer and penetrator. He can be a bit like Jrue or Westbrook. Laugh at his stats but they are favorable to Harden's first 2 years in the league. He is never going to fit in with Kyrie in Cleveland. Maybe he can be had now on the cheap. Possibly try to grab Varajao too. They have too many pieces that don't fit. The Knicks need a young PG to groom. Felton is killing me. Ball handlers never fall that far in the draft while specialists like Shump do.

I am very interested in Waiters as a PG prospect. I think that is his future in this league

Modify keep it simple...

Melo to the Clippers
Griffin to the Cavs
Waiters, Thompson, Varejao and a first from each team to the Knicks

meh, are those picks going to be any good though? Clipps are going to select in the late 20's and cavs in the teens. If we had to trade Melo I'd rather it be for an established young player and a guaranteed lotto pick.

lol....any chance Denver takes Melo back in a trade?

Denver receives: Melo/Felton
Knicks receive: Gallo/Chandler/Mozgov Knicks first this year and 2016.........

I agree. A simple swap of Shumpert for Waiters could mean so much in the future for this franchise if Waiters can converge to a real successful PG.
If we could get out of Felton & JR deals before 2015, then we'd be in real business.

Instead of targeting Rondo & Love, we could target Love & Gasol.

Our books would only have Dion Waiters (rookie deal still), Tim Hardaway Jr. (rookie deal still) & possibly Melo (unless he waits to just expire).

Can you imagine a line-up of;
Dion Waiters
Tim Hardaway Jr.
Carmelo Anthony
Kevin Love
Marc Gasol

Why not take the chance on Waiters?
This front office is stupid if they turn down the deal because they feel like they don't need "another SG".
That means they don't scout other teams players & really know what they're capable of.

I really like the idea of a Waiters & Hardaway Jr back court. Neither of them could be described as a true point (although Waiters possesses some legitimate passing talent and is capable of splitting defenders which creates opportunities for other players). When combined you can seriously groom a young pair of guards who can attack the rim, move without the ball, lead fast breaks, and shoot the 3 with confidence. I honestly look at both of these guys as 37%-40% 3 Point Shooters if given the chance to grow properly.

Everyone talks about how the future is dark and that put we ourselves in a bad position. I am really not of that opinion if you can get creative (which to me a trade like this represents). Every time the Knicks go after someone they already had a career year, or it would require us to mortgage the entire future yet again.

Pablo is 36, Udrih 31, and Felton will be turning 30. These guys are completely on the downside of their career and for once it would be nice to have a back court in Hardaway Jr (21 Years Old) & Waiters (22 Years Old) that we as fans can grow with. I would much rather see these guys at this age stumble and get back up, then to wait on Twitter updates for whether or not our older guards will even be playing that night.

Due to the fact that as an organization are so uncreative, we have lost the opportunity to draft a PG of the future. It sickens me to look at the league and see how many guys would do wonders here. The sad part is do you even think our organization gave Eric Bledsoe a look over the summer. How about Reggie Jackson or even Goran Dragic? Is it truly possible that they believed Felton would be serviceable...

If we could trade Felton for a bag of chips right now I would do it..

Then I would do shumpert for waiters all day this kid was a beast at Syracuse and plays solid d not to the same as shump but there's not a doubt in my mind that waiters could hit every shot and more the shump could I would bet $100 on a game of horse every day

Getting rid of Waiters for any asset? He is perceived as a cancer and is clashing with their franchise player. That's a no-no in the NBA. I'd rather have Evan Turner if I were Cleveland.

This is not about shumpert v waiters. It's about shumpert and his trade value in a future deal to net us a player we actually need v waiters and the same.

This is how the article described Shump

Bringing the Oak Park native Shumpert to the Bulls would give Chicago a shoot guard/point guard hybrid, like Rose, who can initiate the offense while also being able to create his own shot. With Luol Deng, Jimmy Butler and Joakim Noah still on the roster, the Bulls are far from a cellar-dwelling team without Rose, but in order to reclaim their spot as one of the top teams in the East, the Bulls would have to find a capable scorer to replace Rose.

Clearly, Dalton Russel doesn't know who Shump is

Outside fans thoughts, but somebody that follows the Knicks and Waiters closely.

1. Waiters is not a PG. It's great that he has some passing talent, but he's a chucker. You don't want your PG to be an inefficient chucker.

2. The Knicks only defender on the team is Shumpert (and Chandler when healthy). Waiters is an absolutely terrible defender.

3. Right now, Dion is basically an undersized JR Smith. Having one JR is too many.

Dion's best fit is as a sixth man, where he can handle the ball and be a spark plug for a team that doesn't get much scoring out of their bench (ex: Chicago).
