Also, all small market teams always have tax worries. Lol

KD doesn't need a PG though he needs a scorer, RW is and will continue to be that guy. KD TRUST him and they have chemistry. Kyrie is not a PG, he's Kobe-lite.

Him being on a rookie deal is kinda irrelevant, OKC has no tax worries now.

Westbrook is only 3 years and a few months older than Kyrie, so they both have plenty of time to improve, so there's nothing base that Kyrie can not only catch, but also pass him.

That deal has no sense at all for OKC....they take a step back in hopes that Kyrie can catch up.

I might add a few things for people who may only watch highlights and not the actual games:
-Westbrook is good defender, Kyrie is not
-Westbrook can play BIG when it matters, Kyrie hasn't made the playoffs
-Westbrook is VERY much a part of OKC's future plans as is Ibaka and of course KD.

The part I dont get is the poster is basing the trade off injuries as if Kyrie hasnt had any, and age as if Russ is old.

Wasn't basing it off of injuries or age. Those were just obvious additional reasons.
Kyrie injuries aren't going to affect his game as much as Westbrook injuries will. Kyrie is much more of a pure PG than Westbrook.
As for the age thing, of course Westbrook is very young. Wasn't comparing him to a Andre Miller or Billups.
But 3 years will make the difference 7 years from now if Westbrook is 32 & losing it a little bit early because his athletic ability is almost gone & his PG instincts aren't as good because maybe Durant is gone or vise versa.

What pure PG instincts does Kyrie have? I'm asking seriously. I watch Cavs games and he'll make a flashy pass here or there but he doesn't scream pure PG.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree my fellow Knick mates.
I just see things out of a different lens because I think Kyrie will be better than Westbrook sooner than later, as he matures more in life & the NBA.
People complaining about Kyrie's attitude are probably the same people who was complaining about Westbrook's 2 or 3 years ago too. Now that his game has matured, it's no complaints.

Tyson would be much better with a coach who isn't philosophically committed to having him stationed as far away from the hoop as possible on defense.

This is the most hilarious part of the kyrie/wb debate to me. Using health as a factor in favor of kyrie irving.

He doesn't have a massive arsenal of pure PG instincts just yet, but he has all the potential in the world to be top 3 when his game matures & actually have a good team around him like Westbrook had the fortune to have.

Idk, I've seen both players play in person. in the NBA & in the off-seasons. Really like both players but think Kyrie can be that traditional franchise PG.

Tyson has never been a rim protector though he'll occasionally get a nice block or two but he's best at trapping and help defending. We unfortunately have crappy perimeter defenders that force him to defend their players on switches as well as defend his man. Tyson has been bad but our system and players aren't the best either.

Again, how is it so "hilarious"?
You really think a leg/foot injury is going to affects Kyrie Irving's game in the future as much as it'll affect Westbrook? A person who relies more on athleticism.

Westbrook's health concerns should be not be ignored, but it's not exactly a huge comparative advantage to compare him to a player that has not had a single season since the beginning of his college career without a significant injury.

Lol ok Ms. Yards. You got it.

Just to understand that statement fully though....Are you saying Russell Westbrook is more of a PG than Kyrie Irving?

Westbrook at this point is a better all-around PG than Kyrie, neither are PG's though.

kyrie has yet to put a healthy season together, i wouldnt care if it was a pinkie, he's missed almost half of each year due to injuries.

And he's only 3 years younger than westbrook and clearly is nowhere near as good.

the trade idea is laughable.

That's where you make your statement extreme for no reason.
Laughable is the trade proposed from the Yahoo guy with the only PG going to the Thunder is Raymond Felton.

If Westbrook got into a fight with Durant tomorrow & demanded a trade, this would be an amazing get for OKC.

I think your personal view on Kyrie Irving is interfering with the fact that he's actually a really good player with potential to be way better. He's younger than Damien Lillard for christ sakes.

Nothing personal at all, everything wrong in the cavs stems around Kyrie....it's well documented.

Laughable is thinking Westbrook is getting dealt for a role player, and a player no one currently wants to play with.

Durant likes Westbrook, he knows what that guy means to his title hopes....and Kyrie currently CANNOT replace that.

Now nobody wants to play with Kyrie Irving? Lol

I'd trade the whole Knicks team, minus Melo, Prigs & Hardaway Jr., for Kyrie Irving. I'm pretty sure Melo would love to play with Kyrie instead of Felton.

No one on the cavs wants to play with Kyrie, thats what I meant by currently, where he currently is.

Just curious, if you left those names as untouchable in a deal for Kyrie, what would you expect to offer...Shump and Artest?

No. We can't get Kyrie unless we have a 3rd team. Using Tyson & Felton &/or JR for bait & sending the return to the Cavs, plus Shump. If there's any type of chance.

Return to New York Knicks
