? Because Monroe is going to come cheaper...? No. If we somehow manage to sign Gasol to a max contract, we will still have some leftover cap. We can still stretch contracts, trade players away, don't pick up options, etc. Monroe should NEVER be on this team. I know you love Monroe, but if we get him, we're going to suck.

Fine I give up (for now) but what about Harris and Jackson what do you think of them?

Big man comes first. We need Gasol or we need to roll with Millsap, and get Rolo/Asik/defender, or prays* get Horford. If all else fails, maybe go for Harris/defender, or think about another year or making trades.

Our needs go in order as for as position goes:

1. Big Men
2. Big Men
3. Big Men
4. Point Guard
5. Forwards

Just an FYI folks...a lot of good games on tap for tonight to see some of the big names that could be wearing Knicks caps on draft night.

Kentucky (Karl Towns, Willie Cauley-Stein) going up against Boston University at 7:30pm on FSN/ESPN3. Get ready for another massacre.

Duke (Jahlil Okafor, Justise Winslow, Tyus Jones) going up against Temple at 9:30pm (at the Barclays Center).

Louisville (Montrezl Harrel) going up against Dan D'Antoni's Marshall team at 9:00pm on ESPNU.

Texas (Myles Turner) going up against Cal at 7:00pm on ESPN2.

Why do the top players in this draft remind me of players we have on this team?

Montrezl Harrell = Acy. Undersized PF
Kelly Oubre = THJ. No handles, bad shot selection, can't defend a street light
Karl Towns = Barg. lacks toughness, non athletic, bad defender
Jahlil Okafor = Dale. Cant defend the pick and roll, Non athletic, poor quickness

I'm just not excited about the top players in this draft and don't see why a team would even want to tank for such a weak draft. Non of these players are destined to be All-Stars. I'd rather pick at 10-14 if we don't make the playoffs.

Horrible Horrible comparisons...... If Dale had half the skill of Jahlil Okafor on offense he's be a top 10 NBA center

After watching Duke/Temple and Louisville/Marshall last night I can only say one thing. The knicks need to find a way to get another draft pick! There are very talented players that will be available and of the knicks somehow managed to get another top 15 pick we would instantly draft 2 starters if they drafted correctly. The kids on Duke are fantastic. Tyus Jones is a very very good passer I'm talking almost average 10 assists a game in the NBA good. Okafor has work to do, but he's someone that we haven't had in a long long time. He needs to improve his defensive presence. And last but not least is Justice Winslow... To me, this kid is one of the best players in the country and Duke's best player overall. He's a freshman and he takes it to the rack similar to James Harden. Not the best shooter, but a very very solid form. The best thing he does is play defense. Winslow is a freshman and is only 25 pounds lighter than Lebron James! I would take him in a heartbeat.

As for louisville.. Harrell and Rozier are really good. Rozier, if selected by the knicks, would start and play well from day one. Long and talented PG. Harrell is that beast PF we need to fill in.. Not Acy.

These guys are only from 2 teams and I just hope Phil finds a way to grab another pick. If we somehow drafted Rozier and Harrell we would have a lineup of.. Rozier, Shump, Melo, Harrell, and possibly Gasol.

I really like a lot of these players and we need to get some of these kids. Very talented.

The last guy I remember not starting and touted as a top pick was that bust Marvin Williams.

Towns is not a good defender. Not saying that Okafor is great but Towns is not currently a difference maker on defense.

He is an excellent passer which would fit the triangle. The is the ONLY reason I would take a look at him. I could be wrong but I get the bust sense from him.

Okafor I think will be a solid player.

But who cares about these two Mudaiay or bust.

Towns is on a stacked team with several multiple bigs that have been starters on the team in previous seasons. Just because he's not starting doesn't mean that he isn't better than any of the other players on the team from an NBA standpoint. We're talking about a team that just massacred top 5 ranked Kansas by 32 points last night (72-40). In 18 minutes, Towns scored 9 points, pulled down 9 rebounds, blocked 4 shots and dished out 3 assists. Towns defense was a big factor in the demolition of the Jayhawks. And the only reason he played just 18 minutes was because the game was hitting garbage time by halftime.

I understand but if you are that much more talented (better) than the incumbent regime you would be starting.

Do you think Tim Duncan would be on the bench in that team as a rookie?

My point is that if he can't even crack the starting rotation on a college team than I am weary of him. I could be wrong. But I just go by what history says.

I do think he is an excellent passer from what I saw last night.

My concerns are on the defensive end. Because his offense is not polished enough to overcome that. Plus his passing abilities are a bit diminished if he doesn't get doubled in the NBA. Which at this point I don't know his game is polished enough to be. Again I could be wrong. I am not saying I am an expert on college basketball.

Not sure why your fighting I think he does start

When I am wrong I am wrong. I saw him not start the 2nd half of some game and made and assumption. You guys can carry on.

Okafor still >>>Towns though. :)

I'm keeping an eye on:
Domantas Sabonis (kid can really play for a freshman)
Frank Kaminsky (nice big, with a 3pt shot, can pass, block shot and rebound..)

Okafor is not Dalembert. Dalembert when he was in his prime was an skinny athletic shot blocker who's offense relied pretty much just on above the rim putbacks. None of that is Okafor. That's just a ridiculous comparison. So bad that I didn't even realize who you were comparing him to.

To borrow an analogy from Mike Francessa...Towns is averaging 3.6 blocks per game. Bargnani hasn't had 3.6 blocks total in 3 years.

I like Sabonis a lot. Curious to see if he's actually his listed height / weight (and what his wingspan is). Versatile offensively, but has to get stronger.

I also like Kaminsky, but not as a top pick -- more towards bottom of lottery. Not a great defender, but real nice offensively.
