if your freeing up that much $$$ though you don't think just go all in for Gasol or Aldridge?

If you had 35-36 million of space (minus calderon and moving out of the 3.4 million dollar rookie cap hold).

You don't think Wade and Melo could recruit a bigger name than Monroe (like Gasol or Aldridge to be there big 3)?

Wade could still get 15 or 16 million starting salary for a 3 or 4 years with 15% increases. Then you would have 18 for the max.

Minny and LA can blow smoke up everyone ass as much as they want. Everyone and their mama knows that Towns and Okafor are going top 2. The best we can hope for is that Philly takes Mudiay or Porzingis.

Taj
Monroe

I never was the biggest Darren Collison fan but that team has some interesting components to it.

We were linked to him before so maybe some interest there. I think that team has a solid foundation.

I would only consider it if we are definitely getting Taj

we just need some new blood

but when you have one shot you can't just make an average move and Im fearful that WCS is an avarage move

Add him to a good team and you explode to the next level
add him to a bad one and it might not make a major difference

Oh i agree so it would have to be an agreed upon 3 team deal. Seems like the most realistic that can help all the teams. Throw in maybe a second rounder to the Bulls from us.

you know what I meant, the original team idea of monroe and wade with WCS started with a trade down scenario in this thread.

Not just wade being a knicks target like you said. just the team CAPN'O put up there could be financially feasible if we were to trade calderon.

a lot could be feasible if we could trade calderon but phil himself said people weren't really interested. i don't have much hope.

If there are free agents on board as long as we can free up Jose's money, Phil can do that using the 2018 pick, protected for the lottery we hope.

the idea would be trading down. That would be the incentive to have someone to take calderon. Of course right now no one is going to just take calderon off our hands until he proves he can be healthy and productive. But if Phil wanted to get 35 million in cap space to do some damage to get two big FA names.

He could theoretically move down a few spots. Still get someone he likes. And shed Calderon contract. I actually think it would be pretty easy especially if Phil wasn't enamored with Mudiay.

This is what I've been trying to say. Move down, shed Jose, pick up an asset and draft WCS.

Denver gets: #4 and Jose
New York gets: #6 and a future 1st

Denver drafts: Manny (they are going to move Lawson)
New York drafts: WCS

It makes too much sense.

denver has 7, but I get the point.

If I was picking 7 though I still wouldnt pick WCS though.

if he wants to use a 1st to drop caldeon they should fire him on the spot. he already used tyson to drop felton and now he has to use a pick to drop jose ? do you understand how horrible that is ?

honestly thats a fairly sexy idea

youth, size, defense, and balance

Id take Winslow though
on this team he would be the better fit

so theoretically if LMA and Gasol both told there agents to set up a meaning with Phil and Melo and lets get this done. You would have an issue with moving calderon for a future protected pick?

you could walk away with Mudiay, Melo, LMA, and Gasol and you want him fired?

I don't think we move the 2018 pick for Calderon but every move should be judged in a vacuum. The deal is done. The point is to make this team better.

Now I know it is drastic, but its phil fault that calderon got hurt last year?

That's not in our control, unless there is a fix. Losing is always in your control though.

Also #1 pick > #2 pick.

lol If he works our for Philly, He's gone at 3. Book it.

That's what I'm saying. He was the best player coming out of HS last year. I think it's very likely he goes ahead of 4. If he does, we get Russell if we don't we take Mudiay.
