Think Phil will take a little less to get it done quicker, like Shump and JR style but more coming back obviously. This can't hang over team for long, will be a media circus and huge distraction.

The last part of the last sentence is why it's an issue. Instead of being able to sign guys while he has this low cap hold, we'll be paying Noah instead.

The new CBA also increased the cap holds on RFAs I believe so fewer teams will be able to do what SAS did to get LMA.

There's no excusing the Noah deal. It's been bad from day one

the real issue being they built a team around a player who's not a leader and doesn't care about winning.

They are basically trading Melo to Crowder. Would you do that?

Next year Amir comes off and we have Brown and Crowder as pieces.
It is a decent move for both sides.

This is interesting. Because Melo probably gets more suitors in the offseason. Clippers will have their FAs, Boston likely realizes Heyward is resigning with Utah, Cavs might lose in the finals, etc. But it would be best to try to get as high of a pick as we can on our own and tank hard. Melo keeps us from doing that, keeps us afloat too many games.

Love to Lakers. He's the star they need, UCLA connect, Ingram Randle and filler. Randle would be redundant w Love in the lineup.

Yeah I don't buy that. Moving Melo allows you to do the rebuild, true. But the rebuild will make the terrible decisions this franchise made this summer more palatable. We see it in this thread already regarding the Noah contract.
