Morey, a shady GM who likes prostate massagers almost as much as playing ping pong with little Asian boys, knows how to get the assets to make any deal happen. He's notorious for giving the Knicks a dirty sanchez a number of times: Maurice Taylor, Marcus Camby. So why not try again after Steve Mills pulled an Isiah and Mismanaged the cap?

Ultimately this is going to lead to Melo starting the season as a Knicks and more problems as Hardaway Jr, Melo, and KP will struggle with ball distribution (this happens without an experienced PG) and make Mills more desperate...

My worry, the Knicks tend to panic and sell off their assets prematurely.

Yeah. I mentioned something similar. In a battle of wits between Morey and Mills it could get ugly for the Knicks. I would not be surprised if Morey has something up his sleeve.

We should just pull the offer, buy Melo out and let the Cavs sign him at a MLE just to spite Morey. I think the satisfaction of doing that has the potential to outweigh the potential assets we'd get back in trading him. They basically NEED Melo at this point. He should be sucking Mill's BBC to get this deal done. I already think he doesn't deserve it. I want to see it blow up in his face.

Maybe now that Houston has won Melo over, they might be banking on us buying him out if it all falls thru in which he'll obviously choose Houston.

I have no idea what's going on but Tim Jr. and Melo starting together would be a disaster.

There's a term for that. It's called cutting off your nose to spite your face. Moral of this is that you end up with no nose.

The worst option for the Knicks (barring a stupid trade that brings back even more salary and no real assets to offset it) is to buy Anthony out. They get nothing in return in terms of assets (which, for a team with hardly a lot of assets) is not what you want when you are trading your best (or 2nd best) player and only get to have Anthony's contract squat on their cap AND have to pay him for the next 2 years while he's laughing it up in Cleveland or Houston (who get him for basically pocket change). You want to "spite him" buying him out is not the way to do it as that would be absolutely the best case for him (and either the Cavs or the Rockets).

As far as Anthony deserving anything? Again, if the expectation was that he should be Lebron James, then yes, he should deserve very little. But it shouldn't be, should never have been. But regardless it has nothing to do with Anthony. It has to do with what is in the best interest of the Knicks and making the best deal possible to help the Knicks.

Spiting or "getting back at" Anthony should have absolutely nothing to do with any decision making. Nor is spiting or otherwise getting back at Morey (for his presumed dastardliness). Both guys are doing what they should be doing. Our concern is...is Mills?

Yep, he's the guy that you hate if your GM is dealing with but would love if he was your GM, especially if your GM is Steve Mills.

And here lies the problem with this franchise all along. The inability to actually have someone that is qualified run the front office. Haven't had it since Dave Checketts was here which, coincidentally, was the last time the Knicks were really of any impact in the playoffs.

Let me guess, the dialogue went something like this:

Dolan: So...Steve...have you found anyone to take the President position yet?
Mills: No, Jim, there's absolute nothing out there. You know what Griffin said the first thing he would do is? Buy Carmelo Anthony out.
Dolan: Really?
Mills: Yeah, of course, he told me himself.
Dolan: But I was there at the dinner with him and I don't think I heard him say that.
Mills: He did, he said it in Pig Latin.
Dolan: Oh, ok, you know me, I was never good at those tricky dickey foreign languages.
Mills: Yeah...but you're great at everything else Jim. My mentor. My idol.
Dolan: Gee thanks Steve. You know what? You want to be the President?

I just did a little research on Moe Harkless and I'm down with him coming back in a Melo deal. He'd be a nice SF on this team. Play some D, hustle, hit some 3's. And he's young.

Frank, Baker
Lee, THJ, Dotson
Harkless, LT, Kuz
KP, KOQ
Willy, Noah

Good mix of vets and a lot of young guys. Imperative to let Frank & Baker run the show for the tank.

i think that was expected. He signed THjr to a longterm deal and he's handling the Melo trade negotiations he will be the new president. They just probably want to hire a cap savvy GM to do the grunt work that will eventually lead to Mills making the final decisions.

I was talking about Morey, I am a fan of Melo and would like to see him on that Houston roster. Also, I wasn't serious about doing this. Just expressing my anger at how trash our FO is.
