Part of Knox's development will be reading and understanding the D on his drives. People knocked him for shooting a floater too often at UK so now he's going in balls-to-the-wall and flying into a crowded paint a little too often. Sometimes he's gotten the call, sometimes he hasn't. I'm not sure if he's taken a single floater in SL; I can't remember one if he has. He'll need it, hell even KD still uses his, and a short pull up J. He'll be able to elevate over most defenders on a short pull up.

Um No.. Carter is not a better shot blocker than Mitchell all around. When carter starts blocking in space as well as mitchell....send me the email.

They’re comparable. My point is that it’s not as clear cut as was stated. Mitch is a monster that is doing this off of raw athleticism and hustle. Wendell is more developed in his reads and IQ imo.

They are at different stages of development, but completely different in terms of physical talents. Mitch is an A+ specimen that will have close to an unprecedented combination of strength, agility and speed not seen before after his body matures. His frame is shocking and will become a wall of muscle coming at shooters. Scary.

I completely agree. I think Mitch has the potential to be the best shotblocker but his IQ isn’t ready for it. He’ll pick up a lot of fouls and bite on a lot of pump fakes. He’ll be all over the place covering and over covering on defense. Once his IQ develops, the sky is the limit with him. Looking at Carter, I’ve been legit impressed with his shot blocking. I didn’t think it would translate as well as it has. He’s a smart player that is stingy in the paint.

Also, Ojeleye is a legit defender. I'm not surprised Knox struggled against him at all

Dear lord the future would be bright.

Pass on Kyrie. Get Giannis in 2021.

Frank
Knox
Giannis
KP
Robinson

Your New York Longbois

This may sound like a reach but I feel like Giannis is too loyal to the Bucks to ever leave them. Talking bout he'd never leave the Bucks for a team like the Lakers.
Obviously could be 100% wrong & a lot can change by 2021 but waiting that long and missing on him is risky.

Agree on everything, but 14 points on 20 shots is horrid.

Efficiency isn't something to really focus on in SL especially when we know how young the kid is and that he still has ways to go to improve his game. The biggest worry about him before the draft was his motor and lack of aggressiveness and the fact that he's been extremely active so far and very aggressive attacking and looking to score is a great sign. He took 20 shots! I think that's fantastic. I'll take that any day over him being completely invisible on the court and looking disengaged.

Carter is good

Anyway, Mitch should play through his mistakes and foul out a few times. It's all a learning experience

Fiz said they not running plays this summer league. He wants them to just play and not think. So this is one on one ball mostly. Other teams running plays remember Knox was good off of screens and baseline. He not getting easy shots he missed some 3 pointers open. Other then that drive to the basket. Once we run a offense he will improve shooting.

Wait for it. He can shoot too. There are reasons he fell that far but none make sense to me. It's a small miracle.

every once in a while things slip through the cracks- we had the right pick and we were aware enough to grab him...I think the explanation is that simple Cap...

Yeah, definitely. Quite a few were good looks with good rotation/arc, they just didn't fall. Also, they're Defense is tough and he got hit on A LOT of attempts.

It's actually promising IMO that an Elite team like Boston actually game planned to shut down Knox and he was STILL able to hit double figures! :dontknow:

--Mags

I was working, so I only got to watch the highlights, but Knox was still impressive to me. Though he took 20 shots, almost every one looked like it was within the flow of the game. And I include him taking it to the hole as part of the flow because that's going to be such a deadly move once he builds strength and learns to finish better and/or develop a step back jumper. Also, he looked positively gassed from carrying this team through the first four games.

Bonus: Robinson blocked another three point shot! And someone actually got a lob to him. I really hope that becomes a staple early and often for the Knicks.

2010 wrote:Mitch has also blocked more 3pt attempts in just 4 games in SL than any big I have ever seen. Shooters were legit scared to pull the trigger from the corner when they saw him in the vicinity with the threat to run at them.

There was also a sequence in the 3rd quarter I think, where he defended the pick and roll perfectly. He switched onto the guard but it wasn't the typical "show"....he actually stalled the ballhandler hard, then recovered back to his roll man in textbook fashion. You cannot teach that. Kid hasn't had quality coaching yet and just knows. For instance Amar'e and Kanter still haven't learned that.
