Fiz: Leaders will emerge
I love that Fiz told Kevin to take care of one thing. Be a leader for Mitch since he missed school. Then he text Fiz saying they just came from the gym together. Gotta love the example Fiz is setting.

thats kanter though, he has developed a great image to fans. A guy that works hard, talks about NY as being his home. He endears himself to the fans through the media...but realistically he aint a keeper.
it's all very calculated and obvious....and he certainly aint

Don't forget that at one point Jimmy Butler was thought of as a role player who wasn't highly touted offensively. Yet he developed his offensive repertoire and worked his tail off and turned himself into a max contract caliber player. Point is, don't be so quick to scoff at in-house development. I can actually see a dude like Mario turning into a prime Hedo Turkoglu or better if he puts in the work. That is a darn good player at a discount when you factor in he wouldn't command $30 million+ like Jimmy and with way less mileage.

Yes, exactly. Which is why you don't risk any long term pieces to clear the cap. Make good deals if and as they come. As much as I'd like to see Lee moved, I'd rather us sit on his deal than blow a load trying to dump him.

That's what I got. They'd consider bringing him back at the right price point.
Same with Hezonja. They spoke about both guys in the same context.
"These guys want to prove that they can be here long term"
Correct me if I'm wrong, but they didn't bring up Mudiay at all in that context. Sounds like they weren't impressed.

I don't think you need to trade any assets to get rid of Lee.
I assume a team will take him for an expiring deal and a 2nd rounder.

Its also why I am not crazy about stretching Noah now. Even without stretching him, we would have $23+mil in cap space and could sign some smaller contracts or 1 year deals. Gives us an extra $6mil to play with in future years. Then could save for a max in 2020-2022.

A 2nd is an asset. Don't forget we got Mitch with a 2nd.

If that deal was out there, we'd already have taken it. What team thinks Courtney Lee is enough of a difference maker to take on two years of salary at age 33?
