MAY I REMIND YOU: JAMES DOLAN ALSO OWNS THE NEW YORK RANGERS. THE RANGERS DON'T EVEN HAVE A PR TWTTER ACCOUNT. THAT SAYS IT ALL.

That's because Dolan doesn't go to their hockey games. That says it all.

Dolan attends every Knicks game. He’s a huge basketball fan unfortunately for us.

I think Steve Stoute has his work cut out for him. Now Dolan made enemies with Charles Oakley and Spike Lee.

Exactly. He treats the rangers like a business asset and doesn't touch them. Meanwhile with the knicks he can't stay away. It's like night and day.

Knicks PR: Indirectly commanded by Dolan's propaganda.

I don’t think people realize the love affair dolan has for basketball. It’s never going to be analogous to his care for the rangers. he’s a showbiz guy and basketball is a glamour sport.

Considering the amount of money he spends and his status as damn near Knicks ambassador and in-game mascot. The change in policy should have been communicated to him ahead of time. If anything, to avoid this current embarrassing situation.
Ask yourself this. Could you see this happening to Jack Nicholson at the Staples Arena? To Drake at ScotiaBank up north? They would have been taken care of. The policy would have been privately communicated to them to avoid this.
We probably wouldn't hear about it on First Take the next day from those 2 either
So you’re annoyed by someone exercising their right to free speech? You’re annoyed by First Take exercising their right to freedom of press? You ruffled cuz this messes up your feel good win and Leon Rose’s first day?
How many times has Dolan exhibited horrible timing that has embarrassed the Knicks. He is the person who should be drawing everyone’s ire here. This could have been avoided with a simple Corporate Communications generated email.

That's the thing, i'm not even sure if he likes the sport itself. He just likes the idea of owning the knicks. That said, if i was him i would've sold years ago. Where's the appeal of being hated by just about everyone who roots for your team? I’m sure he has access to celebrities with his other entertainment ventures. This stuff will never end as long as he’s owner. It’s absurd.

People love to point out the effect while conveniently ignoring the cause. Dolan is the CEO. His job and the job of whoever is head of Corporate Communications is to avoid situations like this. Let’s get to the root of the problem. It was a miscommunication that could have been avoided with a most notable customer. Who spends a ton of money there. Send him an email beforehand. No issue!

Re: Spike Lee will be on First Take this morning to discuss incident last night
I hate everyone involved in this instance.
Dolan for his stupidity and this very weird way of changing treatment out of the blue for a truly loyal and easily the most recognizable Knicks fan in the world. If the policy’s changed, either you communicate it in advance, or if you don’t then you make an exception that evening or make up for it as a courtesy. Spike felt offended and clearly Dolan didn’t gave two cents about it. It’s unfair, it’s obnoxious and it’s dumb. It’s also unprofessional but obviously he feels he’s above the law inside MSG.
ESPN, SAS and Kellerman for milking this for ratings. They’re the ones smiling now. Making a big deal out of nothing because making fun of the Knicks sells. But what do you expect from them, they’re not going to be the voice of reason here either.
I might be most upset with the way Spike’s handling this. It’s clear he was waiting for ANY reason to go off on Dolan. To go on First Take to take the bait and complain about a trivial issue is completely immature, destructive and counterproductive. Also, Oakley’s clearly whispering in his ear and to be honest I think generally he’s a poor person to align with. He’s a petty, classless, vindictive bully who in my opinion doesn’t have the Knicks’ best interest at heart, beef with Dolan aside. Regardless of how I feel about Dolan, this is not good for the Knicks overall. This is all about ego.
This is a clown show and they’re ALL responsible imo. Dolan should make an effort to diffuse the situation but knowing how petty he can be, it’s all going downhill from there.

Always something embarrassing has to come out a day after a great win and Leon getting introduced...

When you’re that rich you can afford to live in your own bubble. Between his media gag orders and yes men, dolan has created a billion dollar empire of delusion. You can’t view anything he does in rationale terms. This is an unhinged, petty, sad excuse for a human being.
