I think the reason they might do the deal is b/c they already have committed ~117M in contracts for 2020 (not including the cap hold for their 1st rounder (~2.3M)) and they likely want to re-sign Jordan Clarkson. Doing so would push them well above the cap, close to the luxury tax

trading Conley for Randle frees up over 15M and gives them a large trade exception

BUT to keep Spida happy I think Utah asks for Frank with Julius and they agree to send us their frp this year.

Frank has value to a team built around a dominant scoring guard like Donovan. And that’s his guy (along with Gobert). And...Utah is smart.

Now I think it would have to be a draft night trade becuz I don’t believe Utah can’t trade their pick this year but I could see:

Conley+Niang+23
For
Julius-Frank-Payton (possibly to waive)

I brought up Bondy b/c...he was the 1st person to connect Payne to the Knicks job....and Payne likely would have been hired regardless of the FO chose as HC
