We looked awful against the Cavs starters and even bench. Looked a lot better against their 3rd stringers and GLeaguers

At least we know our young players are better than the Cavs end of the bench guys, yay

For those saying you can’t throw out the kids vs other teams vets, the answer is why not? I’d rather they win 12 games with this final unit and having learning pains even if it means losing by 30 with players that will be here beyond this season than win 20 games with a whole bunch of losers that have no future here

Also, flying under the radar is that Mitch got into foul trouble really early but was able to play through it

2 fouls in the first 2 minutes, then 4 by 2 minutes into the 3rd, and he ended up with more minutes than everyone except RJ, and he was still playing great defense

He just needs to learn how to do that consistently, and he'll be fine.

I don't wait to rain on anyone's parade but that probably has something to do with Drummond only playing 20 mins tonight. He was getting cooked for some of the night but did get better guarding him after half.

Randle and Payton are detriments to this team and will **** up the progress of the kids. Thibs needs to understand this and adjust accordingly

We've been saying the same thing for a couple of years now though. At this point, he needs to do it consistently or we need to start being more realistic about his lack of basketball intelligence/commitment to improving his game.

I like that play where Knox takes it from Mitch at top and runs around the screen. A good way to use Knox’s giant loping strides.

This is why young kids need minutes. You can see a noticeable difference when kids play with energy and free and easy without looking over there shoulder making mistakes. That is why loaded up on mercenary vets makes no sense.

Being serious, this was a preseason game against the cavs depth. So we shouldn't throw that group to the wolves & let NBA starters crush their confidence before they can really turn it into something...which is why I won't gripe about Thibs bringing them off the bench, as long as he's consistently bringing them off the bench & letting them play together for 20-24 minutes a night.

Let's see if they can't keep this up against regular-season benches & start finally building something!

The starters would have lost the game against the Cavs 4th stringers if Thibs put them back in....no joke.

Which is fine. A) I don't care about the vets confidence cause I don't care about their development, so let them get beaten up by opposing starters.

And B) we need another top 5 pick; so hopefully the kids fall just short of digging us out of the holes that the starters put us in

Quickley won't play when Burks and Rivers are back and Bullock won't get benched for going 0-6 from three often.

The logic is insane.

Burks has no effect whatsoever on quickleys playing time.

Thibs will play Burks as a necessary part of playing Elfrid Payton. Becaue, you know, that makes perfect sense for a 30 win team.

I thoroughly enjoyed that win, but it was against 5 guys where 60% of them will be on the street in 2 weeks.

I think the most important things about it are
1. Quickley seized the moment and cooked scrubs like you're supposed to.
2. Mitch anchored the defense
3. FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, we surrounded RJ with shooters and let him go to work

Please, please, please build on this

you know better. you won't even see this again in march/april when everyone knows the season is lost.
