good regular season coach. one of the best you could ask for.
Terrible playoff coach. and that will forever be his legacy until proven otherwise. Kind of same reputation as Doc Rivers.
He is the coach before the guy to get us over the hump.
While I tend to agree with this take... I just want to ask which series should he have won that he lost as a direct result of his coaching?
Also funny coincidence that Doc's only title came with Thibs as his assistant.

Hopefully we wont ask for Mitchell.
Honestly with Brunson I dont think we need a Mitchell type...
As much as I love Deuce.... there's absolutely no scenario in which he should hold up a deal for Spida.
I also don't think that it would come down to this... Cleveland has 0 leverage. If anything... Brooklyn gets him on a 1 year rental because I can see them offering more than NY

Brunson and Deuce have a +10.9 rating on the floor together
Mad props to Thibs for going small and starting Deuce. That goes against everything we think about Thibs. That lineup was tough. Not just for this game, but we will need to play that way at times in the playoffs most likely.

It's extra sweet beating the Warriors on national TV with Bob Myers calling the game while missing three starters on the road.

We dont, I'd much prefer Booker or a shooting big.

Let it go. This team is not trading for Mitchell.

i wonder how this team looks like healthy and a year of chemistry. we might not need that big star. also could be wishful thinking on my end but just wanted to put that out there

the man took us to the 2nd round and we took a finals team to 6 games with a hobbled randle. i am pretty sure we exceeded expectations, did we not lol
and comparing him to doc rivers is wild. that man is a known choker with loaded teams. when has thibs had a talentful team and choked?

I've written "we need a point guard" so many times over the past decade or two that I still sometimes wonder if this is a dream. Brunson is one of the smartest PGs in the game -- the way he scores is to get defenders off balance because his moves are so unpredictable. Then his good scoring touch becomes a great scoring touch.
Also, his initially poor defense has continued to improve. He's not going to block shots, but he disrupts plays and steals the ball more than we thought he'd be able to do. If anything, his passing has also improved greatly. Last night he passed out of double teams between the two defenders. One pass allowed iHart to drive to the basket for 2. It was a beautiful play that was underrated on ESPN (I set my DVR and it chose ESPN over MSG. Damm).

it does go against Thibs MO to go small...He did adjust to teams trapping Brunson with more spacing lineups. Its tough to play lineups with two guys that don't shoot.
I didn't care about the size...Mcrbide/Brunson together play off each others game so well. McBride is a great POA defender and is a very consistent shooter...he also gives us another ball handler out there so Brunson doesn't have to do absolutely everything.
Honestly Duece has become even a more consistent outside shooter than Quickley. IQ def has some more wiggle in his game and shot creation...but Duece has become the more consistent shooter and more physical defender.
And we have him locked up on a great deal...found a gem!

In the postgame interview, Thibs said he wanted to go small and to have more scoring, so he used Deuce. I know over the years folks have said Thibs doesn't go with the hot hand, but for the first time with Deuce, that's what he did. Then it went the other way and he "overused" him. I'm sure at 23 years old with very few minutes on the floor this year, he'll be fine. Don't forget, he's a tough ex-football quarterback. He's slowly becoming the backup PG we need, and he's even better on the defensive side.
Over the course of the year, many of us have accused Thibs of all sorts of faults, but we need to keep in mind that he's got a great assistant coaching staff and he seems to pay attention to what he learns from them and what he sees on the tapes. He's flawed, but he's got this team winning. How many of our coaches since JVG would have been able to do this?
