Nope... he's turning 35 this September and is at 48m salary next year.... plus, NY and Miami don't make for good trade partners.

Look for younger options.

What would ppl say about Brunson if the only game they saw this year was game 1 or 2?

The more I think about it.. I think KD fits nicely on this team. You don't need someone with the same timeline in terms of age. Starting next year is consider Year 1 as a title contender. You have 3 years with your core before you shake it up if you don't win a title. KD within the next 3 years is still going to be KD. KD isn't going to lead the team but will be a great 1B next to Brunson. Still an effecient shooter at 52/42/85 with 27 PPG.

BTW, the pressure will be on KD and not Brunson. If sh.it goes south, I don't see how Knicks fans blames Brunson unless hes throwing bricks for the whole series. Everyone will point the finger at KD. Randle, Sims, Bojan + 2 FRPs (2024 and 2026) for KD. Phx still gets a PF and people still forget that he was a 2x All-NBA player, All-Star players.

KD makes a ton of sense. The problem is that Zeke is running PHX meaning he is in the star-hoarding mindset not the star-dealing.
KD coming here allows him to make a play at legacy because if he can win back to back rings here like he did GSW (but before we get our first) he then becomes THAT guy.

The time to push to trade for Butler was a bit before the 2022-2023 season when it looked like the Heat was done for and may be looking to reset. I was one of the few that pushed for it despite the "he's too old, he won't help the Knicks, blah, blah" clatter. Then Butler pretty much single handedly knocks the Knicks out of the playoffs. Now? After a couple years of aging, a really bad haircut and (potentially most importantly) signs that he's not quite right in the head? I'd pass. Especially since he not only has a nasty contract but he's going to be crying about an extension which wouldn't kick in until he's hear 37 years of age. He's also really no longer a fit given the Knicks current roster commitments.
