yeah Luka on a 1 year deal is tricky especially if you already have other higher paid pieces. DET probably one of the few teams that can take the gamble because he has so little committed salary (just can't use up a lot of that cap space on long term deals) so he can go big $$$ next year to retain with bird rights. But he got the 1A player in this trade and you figure that out later.

Houston giving up the rebuild to compete in the tough west. There are pieces there to be quality but the west is tough.

Pooch hoping the SIM doesn't treat the health of his players like real life...ball brothers, KP, Zion, Isaac...that is a lot of guys that get banged up.

And yes with all these big pieces moving I feel like teams will have to balance out there rosters.

Sim never worked that way, it is actually a good opportunity to grab guys people would be down due to real life. They put up great numbers too in fewer games

The new look Rockets are hereeeee.

Cade, Ausar, JJJ, Drummond about to allow teams to score 80 ppgs. (if the Sim understands defense)

And Ingram here will bring a star to the team as well.

Got one more trade in the pipe line that will help fill out the roster.

I don't really see it as giving up the rebuild. I gave up one young piece and got JJJ who is only 24. My teams still young and I just made some moves to try to compete so that my FA rank doesn't completely tank.

I really didn't give up much and got great players in return. Lively is a good player but JJJ is worth the price.

Rest of the young guys I moved was either on bad contracts(Suggs, Boston Jr) or not really worth much at all so I got out of their contracts.

I gotcha I was more also including that you gave up your 2025 pick next year so that was part of my analysis in that you kinda are out of rebuild (draft pick mode) and into a win now mode.

Why is he on the exempt list? Should he not have just fell of the list naturally. I see so many players that are no longer around.

even if a player retires they don't fall off your books...they can go to the exempt list but you have to keep have a year come off naturally.

This prevents teams from giving 4 or 5 years to a vet to bring down the yearly cost just so that if they retire you get the $$$ off your books.

That would be extremely helpful for everyone, rebuilding and competing. The league is overpopulated with talent. Expansion should have happened years ago. I currently have so many picks that I cant even keep them all. As of now, my plan is to simply draft guys I like & see who still looks good in summer league. In the past, I’ve lost guys like Max Strus & Vince Williams just because I needed a roster spot.

Yeah if we're trying to stay true to league stuff, those slots got added a while ago and are also in the game now. Hoping to gain some momentum in thread first before proposing anything.

Its a good idea I think we are just at the mercy of the SIM and Bish time...They seem to put new stuff in the game so maybe that will be an addition but you also have to factor in bish on a daily basis is making lineup changes ect along with simming. Might be a lot to also manage the up/down of 2 extra 2-way spots.

Maybe we can just manage offline through the exempt list that you don't need it to be a draft or stash spot or a guy out of the league...you can hold two 2-way spots for drafted players as long as you can manage it within your cap restraints...or something like that.

not a lot of buzz because I think we are waiting on a lot of those big trades to drop but the draft starts tonight...even though it doesn't have any marque type players there are always good players in every draft just might have to do a little more digging this year.

Ight somebody explain to me what’s going on in Washington like I’m 5th grader

Is there a master plan I’m not seeing or his team the dumpster ground for bad contracts and low talent youth for the rest of the league

As presently presented he can’t even afford the salary for the 1st overall pick

These moves are head scratching and if no one else will say it publicly I will  ….

You can go over the cap to sign rookies like you can go 10% over the cap to sign FA's...that was a rule added years ago.

The problem is you can't extend those rookies over the cap so that could be an issue for him if he wants to extend his rookies for the cheapest price.

I stand corrected on that rule, but a team in his circumstance shouldn’t even be capped out/over the cap to sign a rookie.

But anywho lol

to be fair, I think this is the first year he owns his first pick so first year he will able to help his team via the draft. The team he took over had to be one of the worst (insert the cap gif).

He didn't do himself any favors with the exempt list...I don't think he took a year off JJ, Warren, or Cousins which he should have absolutely done (Bish mentioned multiple times if you don't PM him the contracts freeze)...that means another year on the books for those. That was a mistake.
