KT did you see THjr advance defensive metrics? He has a -3.5 FG% against when defending an opponent. That actually somewhat impresses me. You obviously have to look at the eye test (I can say I didn't watch much of him last year). But the stats suggest he became a much better defender.

If this is the case...I could start coming around on this.

I'm not happy.

They didn't wiff on Waiters. It was mere speculation on some interest as well as Rondo etc. and nothing you heard from the Knicks. Waiters was not going to be a good fit here as he hogs the ball, neither is Rondo.

This is a young, tall and athletic backcourt the team is putting together with great shooters.

I didn't say Waiters was gonna be good, I didn't like that idea either. But Waiters was more valuable than THJ last season and considering THJ had zero rumors and this move happened right after Waiters decision, I'm guessing those Waiters rumors had serious legs (they weren't just NY beat rumors).

THJ needs to shoot above 38% from 3 and make more than 2 per game before I use "great shooter" in the same sentence as his name. For now he's a pretty good shooter with a career 35% 3 pt average.

Watch more games if you think Waiters was better than Tim. That's so far off the truth. Atlanta's season turned around when he hit the starting lineup. This deal is a steal if Atlanta doesn't match (they will). He averaged 18/4/3 when in the starting lineup, lead the team in on/off, was 43rd in the league in RAPM (which is the best raw measurement of impact on the court), and he was the 2nd best player on a 43 win team.

Waiters was good but for all.the hype he got for finally not being a scrub the real story of their season was how great James Johnson and Goran Dragic played.

Regarding his defense improving...

Yes, he was better with the Hawks definitely. But to be honest, it couldn't have gotten any worse cause Hardaway Jr was one of the worst defensive SG's in the NBA when he was with the Knicks. Let's hope for the best.

Yea we have a similar team... Another 30-33 win season and picking 8-10

If we unload Melo and Lee, we should be able to tank harder imo.

True, i dont have a lot of faith that can happen in the right way

Dad Melo...?

Since it might be a reality, does adding THJr and subtracting Rose make us a playoff team?

to be fair, and I am the farthest thing from a THjr fan, but THjr has a ton more offensive talent than Justin Holiday.

They're really not that far off. And when you consider the contracts, it's totally perplexing. TS% and 3% are basically identical

Partially but I think it's mostly the contract and the lack of a clear direction.

I live here I saw him at least 50 times in the last 2 years. Y'all probably just saw his stinkers in the playoffs.

He looked a lot better last season, but you know he's going to regress back as soon as he puts on a knicks jersey

Not unless at least a few of the following teams is moved to the Western Conference or disbanded...Celtics, Cavs, Raptors, Wizards, Bucks, Heat, Hornets and (dare I say) Sixers.

there is a bit of a gap. THjr over the last half of the season really started to separate himself. I think you can make the argument he is ascending. Holiday is who holiday is at this point.

I'm tying to live with it because he's 24 and the contract is probably 50 mil in the old cba which he would of got anyway. It's the new norm.

People bugging about the money don't understand the new cap. It's 100 million, not 60.

Can you re quote your post with Timmy videos -- I can't Find it. Thanks

They play totally different though and Timmy presumably still has a reservoir of potential there. I was on record wanting Holiday back but you have to admit Timmy is a more enticing player offensively at least.

If y'all could get over the money (which is the new norm) I think y'all would come around. Wait until other restricted guys sign heir deals. You guys would have heart attacks.

dakomish23 wrote:The PJax defenders are having a field day, but let's compare his big signing last summer to the one Mills just made as they got the same contract:

Noah played 29 games the season before
THJ played 79 games the season before

Noah lost his starting job on a non playoff team
THJ gained the starting job on a playoff team

Noah was coming off a year of career low scoring and shooting
THJ was coming off a year of career high scoring and shooting

Noah was coming in to start over a young prospect
THJ is coming in to start over an older player

Noah was 31 when he signed
THJ was 25 when he signed

I'm not defending the signing. I would of stopped at 14 per, IF I was even interested in signing THJ, which I wasn't. But using this to boost PJax is ridiculous.

This is not a soapbox
