You guys don't want Beal?

I'm sure most of us would love Beal and as a matter of fact he was one of the guys i was talking about that we should trade for like a month ago but a saw something a few days ago that he said he was told be the Wizards people that they aren't going to trade him.

Ah okay. I thought at one point we had a deal in place... Washington should obviously do it atm.

Kawhi been interested in LA. To me it's either NY or they're not teaming up.

Yes. This is the likely scenario.

Some of these guys would need to help us out and sign on the cheap and some we could do a sign and trade for.

eliminate the other three...so Hill, Rondo, and Pat....hmmmm

None of those teams would engage in sign and trades with us except for Utah maybe. Rubio is not the player I'd want. The ball is not supposed to be in his hands much.

Any of those teams would do a sign and trade with us if they think they're gonna lost that player for nothing.

You're way too high on Frank's defense

And rightfully so. In an era heavy on pick and roll sequences, Frank is one of the very best at guarding the PnR.

His value will show even more if he gets consistent minutes. It's just a shame Fizdale puts a premium on offensive players like Mudiay and Knox (I like KK by the way,) and not defensive stalwarts like Frank.

Here's how the analogy holds.

He's not timmy. He's better than that. Just like Randle isn't some "no D scrub who only puts up #'s on bad teams"

BOTH guys are in a position to be paid more than they are worth (initially), at a time when their value is still "rising" (hopefully).

THJr was signed for 17(or 18?) per, for 4 years. It was recognized that it was a bit of an overpay. Mills tried to sugercoat it as saying it was "fair" but that he might even develop and exceed it. Didn't happen.

Now you have two guys in a similar, though BETTER, career arc, but who will also command a MAX salary. DLo for sure, Randle strong possibility.

The THJr comparisons are just a shorthand analogy of possibly overpaying for talent you HOPE rises, but might not.

Both players could blossom and be worth, truly, every cent of 23 million. Both players could exceed the 23 million of value. Both players could fall short, feel like they are worth 5-7 million less than they got paid, and occupy a nice chunk of cap space for 4 years.

It's a risk, and the Knicks, and us as fans, would have to trust their scouts.

And I know "worth" is whatever somebody can get a team to pay. I'm trying to assign a general "bang for buck" with a player, and that is particularly important for max cats.

Nah, I don't see the comparison at all.

Timmy wasn't an overpay, he was grossly overpaid. His best skill is hoping he got hot from the field. That's it, he wasn't good at anything else basketball-wise. He's not a good shooter passer or defender, and can only play sg, and that's because he's 6-6.

I realize the team has it's eyes on certain players and want to remain flexible in the rebuild. I'm cool with it. I don't think D-Lo has even been linked to the Knicks in any fashion, but he is a quality player at a position the Knicks have no one truly qualified in as of today.

Ok. Let's take it further. I haven't seen a PF REMOTELY close to what Randle does, on the Knicks, for a while. No, Noah Vonleh didn't and doesn't count. Right now, there is exactly ZERO PF's on the roster. Extending your logic, the Knicks should:

Max DLo
Max Randle

And call it a day.

And btw, again, the analogy for THJr is still on, because it's about paying a guy above his current value.

It's hilarious various people complain about the Knicks and their lack of fiscal restraint etc over the years, and the first moment FA hits and there's a whiff of disappointment, they want to throw the whole bag at two players who've been ok, then had ONE good year each.

This isn't minimizing or putting the players down. It's just I thought the smart teams saved the max money for the truly maximum guys and if not, rolled things over. And by maximum players, I'm saying HEALTHY KD or Kawhi, Kyrie, MAYBE Butler.

But since DLo is all that max salary wise, lets just throw the whole bag at Tobias Harris too.

He's still young. Only 4 years older than DLo. Also a PF. Position of need. At a position the Knicks "have no one truly qualified at".

And honestly, there are worse things the Knicks could do than going DLo\Randle or DLo\T Harris. Especially Harris, who at least put up 20ppg or close 2 or 3 seasons

The thing about THJ is that he is just a scorer and that's all, nothing else. On top of that he was not smart at what he does best and was inefficient as a #1. As a #3 with a smaller contract nobody here would really complain.

Both DLo and Randal bring more to the table. Both are great willing passers and neither are black holes on defense. May not be the best in team defense but can hold their own one on one. Randle is a great rebounder and can also push the ball up court like a guard. DLo is already an All Star level guard and is only getting better while Randle has also showed improvement. They're both still under 25 so getting them in our time line is perfect. Great plan B if we strike out.

How come no one considers the 76ers as potential destination for kawhi and durant?

They're about to offer Simmons a max deal. Embiid is on one already.

I'm pretty sure they can't ascertain 2 more max level players with those 2 on the payroll.
