http://www.indystar.com/article/2011060 ... Sports%7CpThey are scorers who put their points on the board in different ways.
One does it from the perimeter. The other is always in attack mode to the basket. They both could be available when the Indiana Pacers pick at No. 15 in the June 23 draft.
That could be good for them because the Pacers are looking to add another scorer.
Washington State's Klay Thompson and Providence's Marshon Brooks continued their head-to-head battles on the wing when they went at each other throughout their workout Tuesday at Conseco Fieldhouse.
"Me and Klay saw each other in New York (at a recent workout) and we'll be seeing each other a lot more 'cause we're in that range together," Brooks said. "We're totally different players. He's more comfortable shooting. I can shoot, but I'm more of a driver."
The Pacers have several holes to fill. Finding another player to help in the scoring department is one.
The Pacers have to add another player on the wing through the draft, trade or free agency because Mike Dunleavy is a free agent and they are expected to try to trade the inconsistent Brandon Rush.
"I know Indiana needs scoring and I talked to (Pacers president) Larry Bird at the combine (in Chicago)," Brooks said.
Thompson, the son of former NBA player Mychal Thompson, averaged 21.6 points a game last season. He made nearly 40 percent of his 3-point attempts and displayed superb range. He was suspended for a game late in the season after he was arrested for possession of marijuana.
"Going against him, you have to come with your 'A' game or he'll shoot the lights out," Brooks said.
"He kind of did that to me in New York. He shot it really well in New York."
The 6-6 Thompson doesn't want to be known as an one-dimensional player, though. He's out to prove that he can score in different ways and create opportunities for his teammates.
"I've been a shooter throughout my whole career," Thompson said.
"I have to prove I'm more versatile than that. I can pass and create off the dribble, I can rebound and defend."
Brooks, 6-5, began the workout process as an expected second-round pick, but he has turned enough heads around the league that he has workouts scheduled with lottery teams Milwaukee (No. 10) and Utah (No. 12).
"I have no clue," Brooks said when asked why people still question his game. "I use it as fuel to my fire and I'm going to keep working. I've gotten better every summer, and I'm going to continue to do so."
Brooks, a late bloomer, averaged almost 25 points a game while shooting 48 percent from the field during his senior season.
He had games of 52, 43 and 33 points against Notre Dame, Georgetown and Alabama, respectively, last season.
"I think the sky is the limit, if you ask me," Brooks said. "I just have to keep working. I'm still learning a lot of things and if I got drafted by the Pacers, and if Larry Bird could help me shoot a little bit, it would be scary."

The way this is going I wouldnt be surprised if Jimmer, Klay, and Brooks are all off the board by our pick. Selby has been quiet lately, but it doesnt take much for his hype train to get going either. We better end up with one of these fools though. If we dont trade up Im hoping somebody else falls right into our lap.
