He didn’t say we’d land him, just said don’t scoff at the idea of Kawhi being interested in the Knicks....and everything has come to be that exactly with these reports lately.

Kawhis Uncle is one of the people he is closest to and he is a big NYK fan and lives in South Orange.

Also alot of his rehab was done in NY where likely the best doctors are.

He also said he wants to go to the best TEAM.

I still beleive it is a long shot but If KD and/or AD come here we could check alot of boxes for what he is looking for.

I think it is really, really hard to tell with Kawhi. If they win it all maybe he thinks - yeah, I did that; I did it at the Spurs; I'll do it anywhere I choose, or maybe he thinks - yeah that was me and Pascal and corpse of Marc, and now I've found my guys - even if they are just my instruments. Really, whotf knows what is going on inside there? Kyrie it's obvious - he wears it all on his sleeve - he could be confused, or uncertain, but you see what is going on behind the eyes. Kawhi, no, I have no **** idea. If he wants to stay longer, a little longer - probably not going to commit long term to Toronto, but a year or two - then who stops him? Otherwise, idk. I live NY, but it's cold in the winter for an LA-boy. But maybe he likes the cold after all those years with the Night-King?

And if they lose it's the same calculus backwards. My impression is that he doesn't bail because of losing (cf. KD) he bails because of lack of trust. I can imagine losing - if it was close - incentivizing him to stay. But if he loses to KD in game 6&7 and KD is going to NY, say, does that make him more or less likely to rip up all of the cards and start again somewhere else? Or join KD? (I think this one is unlikely unless he somehow showed himself at least not inferior whilst losing, which seems hard.)

It's not just about Kyrie. Like it or not, Kyrie has a lot of pull among the stars. They all like him and respect his talent. We're incredibly close to striking out this offseason. There's only so many chances in a lifetime to get a KD or AD. I'm 31 and we haven't had one yet (Ewing was great but never top 5 in the league). If we don't get them now, we probably wont have a Top 5 player within the next 5 years. I'll be pushing 40 before we even have a chance at another one. Go get a top guy and we'll be one step closer. Whatever AD's price is, pay it. A second star will come.

One thing is clear, the Knicks have no equity among the players. No one trusts our franchise and no one wants to be the first to commit. Our perception among players is awful. AD is one of the FEW that actually want to play here. Get him.

And one more thing, everyone wants to build with young guys. It sounds great and all and you assume that these kids want to be here. Well, maybe they don't, like KP. Maybe they bolt after 7 years. Once again, get guys that want to be here... but give them a reason to believe. Right now, they're all afraid of looking like fools.

Kyrie is out... Woj is reporting it now. Give it up. Kyrie is gone. Unless we figure out a way to get another big-time guy, KD is probably out as well. Brooklyn and LAC are real competitors that probably look much more attractive. We're all wanting these dudes to pick the Knicks for non-basketball reasons. NYC itself has lost its luster among millennials. The younger generation is more about the LA kind of lifestyle... which I get.

Not worried. KD already knew Kyrie wanted his own team that's why he's been recruiting. The Nets needed more cap anyway to sign Kyrie. They'll end up with Kyrie + DLO

Of course I don't know that for sure but it's not far-fetched. All I know is If our targets go to Brooklyn instead of NY... that will be an all-time low for our franchise. If they went to LAL, LAC, Miami or Boston... alright. I understand why someone would choose those cities. If they choose Brooklyn over the Knicks... that's just an awful look.

Do you have any idea how bad we would be clowned by everyone? You may not think that matters. But that negativity affects perception among everyone... players, agents, coaches... everyone.
