j4remi wrote:This FO has been pretty conservative. You've gotta seriously overvalue the one lottery protected first-round pick they traded to even make a case that they take risks. Not every move they've made has worked out, but I don't see them blowing up the asset chest for Turner or Fox.

Most likely, they'll do what they did here. Draw a line in the sand at a certain offer and move on if it fails. The Hawks wanted Grimes and got turned down. The Athletic's got a piece that says they were looking for something closer to 10 where they got Cam. No dice on either fronts, so the Knicks got Reddish at a price they were willing to pay.

If they trade for Fox or Turner...it'll be a similar scenario. I'm not particularly fond of cornering the market on scoring lefties that can't shoot consistently and Turner made a lot more sense to me before Mitch got his groove back these past couple of weeks. But I'm sweating either trade because I figure it'll reasonable and take a lot of reaches to turn into something more negative than it is. Just like this deal which is most likely to be inconsequential in both directions but had 82 pages and running of back and forth. God I love Knicks fans.

Sure but 82 pages seems conservative considering we just acquired young T-Mac.

i don't want fox unless it's a direct trade for julius
i don't want turner especially if it involves mitch
i don't care what happens to fornier, burn the rest of contract in cash on his driveway for all i care
excited to see cam play just because i know no matter what the outcome many of you will be wrong and publicly shamed subsequently after

because he had a couple good games shooting the 3 against us and that's people's only frame of reference for him

That sounds like a lot of people on this board

It’s not even that. Offensively if you want to have a spaced out offense while still maintaining a strong rim protector on the defensive end, then Turner makes sense. Obviously converting threes is the most important thing but as long as bigs respect Turner’s range we can free up space down low for dribble drives from Randle and RJ. It makes the team better.

Yep, Cam is 22. He doesnt have to be a savior.

No, he doesn't need to be a savior and he wasn't that in ATL. But reports were that he wants more minutes and plays run through him.

You think he will get that here? This is Thibs we're talking about.

Im dubious as the roster currently stands.

I think this is a trade for next year as they try yo unload Burks and Fournier

Well yeah. Nobody wants to play there. Dudes might play inspired to get off that team. We can buy low on disgruntled players

I was at a game at MSG in spring 2019 and Fox absolutely busted the Knicks ass scored 30 something I don’t remember and of course the Kings won. He seemed like he would thrive under the lights of the garden to me.

But whatever let’s develop some g-leaguer or hope the next late 1st rounder becomes a star. A boat’s a boat but a mystery box can be anything. It can even be a boat. You know how much we wanted one of those.

The best teams in this league built through the draft.

They didn't trade all their assets for 'disgruntled' volume scorers and hoped that they can make a first round playoff berth.

The nets are the best team in the league. They had nothing, they traded a first round pick for d’Angelo russell a disgruntled volume scorer on LA, he became an all-star, they made a first round playoff birth barely over .500, then KD and Kyrie came and they traded for harden

Meanwhile in that same time span we “built through the draft” like a small market poverty franchise and got Frank Knox and nothing. They play in the same city we do. We could have done the same thing.

James Dolan owns the Knicks.

So the Knicks path to success will be exponentially more convoluted with countless self-inflicted setbacks along the way. It is what it is.

Am I the only one that thinks Halliburton is getting overrated? I’ve seen people say they’d give up Obi, our pick and the Mavs pick and I think it’s crazy. I’m not even sure he is much better than IQ.

IQ is rated better in most advanced metrics like RAPTOR and EPM. Also by almost any metric Quickley is a better defender. Plus Quickley averages only 3 less points while playing 12 less minutes a game.

Haliburton has similar problems to IQ as he isn’t really a lead guard and can’t penetrate the defense. Plus coming out the draft he was projected to be high floor and low ceiling which looks correct considering he has the same counting stats from last year

So am I missing something? Because right now I don’t see it

The group that’s playing well is playing well so we want to keep that going.

Cam would be lucky to see the floor with this guy lol.

Hopefully RJ told him be elite on defense and everything else will fall into place.

I'm a bit slow and not a huge follower of the knicks, but ... you have grimes. Why do you need reddish? Don't they do the same thing? Is reddish a superior grimes that the knicks desperately need? I mean I do understand you can have multiple guys with similar skillsets...but why the need for reddish?

Honestly there is probably something I am missing.

Reddish is the superior scorer and is a wing. Grimes is a combo guard.
