im doing this type of deal regardless of the Mitchell trade. You need to give Obi 30 mins and see what he is if you aren't going to trade him for Mitchell.

You can't be like no we won't trade Obi for Mitchell but we are also comfortable with you playing a insignificant bench role behind Julius for the next 3 years.

Boston gets KD, Riley slithers there way into a Mitchell deal.

Dolan would be fuming.

The only way Miami would get Mitchell is if the Jazz make a deal out of spite

This. Unless Mitchelll says he only wants to play for Miami or another contending team then Dolan will eventually get involved and force Leon to make the trade.

He won't. Leon Rose wouldn't have left being the top guy at CAA if he wasn't going to get full autonomy of the Knicks.

2 ideas that don’t make sense, 1) the idea that Rose/Dolan would cave or will cave. What exactly would caving look like if a deal gets done? I mean Knicks fans overrate their young pieces, so is it the # of picks yet it’s been shown many times that comps for stars players even in Mitchell’s range including trade requests and specific teams have required a haul. 2) other teams can’t put together a package like the Knicks can, technically yes based on the # of picks, BUT if you’ve been following this sport long enough certain teams, (heat) and others find ways to get things done that leave you questioning why or how, there’s always ways that franchises figure things out and those that don’t (Knicks). The beauty is in the eye of the beholder, one gm may love a certain player that is fans might not think is as good etc as others but Ainge for example might love and we had no clue.

Look at the language in the report - it's obvious the Jazz have nowhere else to go and are trying to push the Knicks:

"The Knicks’ asset pool — up to eight first-round draft picks and young players such as Quentin Grimes, Immanuel Quickley and Obi Toppin — gives them a clear opportunity to acquire Mitchell"

"the Jazz are not operating with a sense of urgency"

"Along with New York, several other teams have expressed interest to the Jazz when it comes to Mitchell, such as Washington, Miami, Toronto, Charlotte, Sacramento and Atlanta, according to sources." (none of these teams have the assets)

Yet since Shams is player/agent based he does throw a bone to Donovan:
"Sources said the three-time NBA All-Star has not requested a trade or attempted to force his way out of Utah, but should the franchise move toward a full rebuild a competitor like Mitchell would prefer to be in an environment geared toward winning now, not later"

We just have to wait this out - no 6 picks and Grimes and Obi. The get no more than they got for the wolves. 3 unprotected, 2 protected, filler.

Or it’s simply a case that Ainge doesn’t like the young players that us fans overrate, maybe Mitchell isn’t sold on the Knicks like we assume, maybe Ainge is doing his job by waiting to see if another team gets more desperate, as I said in a previous post, maybe their is a certain player Ainge is targeting that us fans don’t think is great but Ainge loves him..

Plus the market might reset itself again if the KD trade is a huge haul for the Nets like the Jazz return for Rudy

Going all in with what though? What does Miami even have to offer outside of Herro and Robinson

Return to New York Knicks
