What is the point in being Jets fans? :o

Well it's not like I hate the Jets though  you guys segregated yourselves from us in the main NFL thread!! And plus I'm nosy

But still all joking aside, I thought he got fired for wanting to demote Hackett??

I think that if SOMEHOW the Jets could turn this team around before the Giants do, we could flip you onto the Jets bandwagon. Am I wrong?

Nah I'm pretty content as a Giants fan. It's not that easy for me to just turn on a team like that honestly, I've been a Giants fan since i was 11 years old, Yankees fan since I was 8.

Giants ownership would have to do something really bad for me to turn on them. With the Nets my hostility towards them was brewing since 2011 when they moved the team and were publicly sh*tting on NJ fans on the way out. I've been happier ever since.

No more Lebanese/Muslims!

Honestly I really hope it was about job performance and not that. Saleh being a coach of color was another reason why I was kind of saddened/shocked to see him get booted like that.

But I don't think that Woody is on some BS. The Jets have been way more progressive in terms of hires since 2001 than most teams, including my own. Herm Edwards, Todd Bowles, Robert Saleh. They give guys opportunities

He wants a boatload of money. He has less chance of getting it now than if he showed up to play. His agent probably told him that, but he didn’t listen. That’s probably why they dropped him. I’ve never seen anything like this

That seems more like the "Security had to escort him out" stuff. Clickbaity BS from talking heads.

Saleh got fired for being a terrible head coach. The team was underprepared, out-game-planned, undisciplined, and vocally turning on him. I'm not just talking about Rodgers here. His postgame pressers were so excuse-laden that Quincy Williams must have said "Accountability" five times in an interview last week.

He's had the job for 3+ years, during which time the Jets had the third-worst record in football. They were something like 2-7 on long rest, which is just appalling.

Firing Saleh and removing Hackett's playcalling obviously won't solve everything (in fact, I think Keith Carter might somehow be worse than those two with how much O-Line players have regressed under his guidance). But those are proper steps to take since they didn't rip the band-aid off during the offseason.

Is there consensus among Jets fans that the talent-level of this team is playoff caliber? It seems to me that Joe Douglas’s head has to be on the chopping block as well.

Oooof. I didn't realize things had gotten that bad under him. I probably thought he was doing better because the Jets D has been pretty thorough over the years.

Also, having an incompetent OL coach is a death sentence.I'm sorry but yall deserve better. Do you think Douglas should stay on?

The consensus is that this is a playoff roster with contender upside. Even Vegas and the rest of the league agreed. The coaching staff had QB excuses prior to this, but not anymore.

That said, Douglas' head has gotta be on the chopping block. Picking the right coaches to guide the talent on the roster is part of his job.

You guys are cute. Thinking Woody would do anything logical at any point is funny. He hires all of the failures we have endured. Head of the rotting fish!

Yeah have to imagine for Rosenhaus to even consider representing Reddick his condition was that he would show up and play nice this season and then find a permanent solution in the offseason.

What a weird situation especially given Reddick maybe has 1-2 good years left. Costing yourself a large sum of money for some fantasy long term big money deal that was never going to be there was a disastrous decision for him. Now he has to build up his reputation again for really no good reason at all.

Tonight feels like the inflection point of the season. Even if we lose, I need to see a good performance from the offense to feel even semi-interested the rest of the way. I'll likely pay more attention to the Yankee game tonight mostly anyway.

-Need less Lazard tonight. That's one thing Downing could do to help the offense. His numbers are fool's gold IMO. Man has dropped so many key passes and Rodgers trusts him way too much and it's self-sabotaging his season.

-Don't know how much can change in one week (or without firing Keith Carter tbh) but seeing the line function in run blocking situations would be nice. Ridiculous that we can't get Breece going at all. There's no world where the Jets are a functional team without Breece being a factor

Good thing is Josh Allen has historically struggled against Ulbrich's defenses so maybe there's some hope tonight.

Drew appears to be very intentional about getting a deal done. We'll probably see Reddick in camp this week

Jets will lose and lose badly, by at least 3 touchdowns
