Worst offense I’ve seen from a 2 seed.

He's like a lottery pick version of JR Smith...

A few lottery busts in this series. Jabari Smith and Jonathan Kuminga. Reed Sheppard possibly

And Castle went right after Sheppard. This is why you draft based on BPA instead of need. The Rockets have to trade some of their young players for a star.

Reed may still be the right pick for them, but Ime mishandled his development this year. Castle can't shoot yet, so he'd be another young perimeter player out there bricking up shots like crazy for the Rockets.

Their team went through a complete rebuild and still getting eliminated by Steph Curry and Draymond. It must suck as a Rockets fan to have 2 generations of Rockets teams lose to the Warriors in a Game 7.

Winning three playoff games in a row when you're pretty evenly matched is really hard :dontknow:

I think Warriors are older and more washed and fragile even than Lakers. I will be shocked if this series goes beyond 5 games.

• Amen Thompson has the most potential by far out of any of their players
• Sengun is not only a tier below Jokic, but he might even be below Sabonis. Sengun might not even be that much better than OG or Mikal as a number one option.
• VanVleet is as good as he can be for an aging undersized point guard. He has overachieved his whole career, and now he has to do it as a 31 year old point guard about to go into his 10th season.
• Jalen Green has been inefficient and shown little improvement since his rookie season. The amount of shot attempts he gets might make him seem like a better player than he actually is.
• Dillon Brooks is best known for getting under players' skin, but not for his talent. I will give him credit for having the best 3pt shooting season of his career but he regressed back to his normal shooting against the Warriors
• Jabari Smith Jr and Tari Eason are rotation players who might not really be difference makers

The Rockets are the Detroit Pistons of the West

I'm still mad Leon Rose chose his son's client over Haliburton in the 2020 draft. He ticked all the boxes for a HOF career trajectory in the modern game.

But nothing beats actually drafting Haliburton and then trading him away to build around De'Aaron Fox of all people

Nobody had the Rockets make the playoffs let alone be the #2 seed in the West before the season started. And they achieved both without a franchise player.

Udoka did a fantastic job this year.

You know, the Cavs actually lost the game by playing this style. Brunson is better at it than Mitchell, but yea...the Cavs lost doing this, so maybe the Knicks might not want to keep doing it. This might not be the best defense of Thibs. Maybe more of an indictment of both Mobley and Atkinson imo.

I'd say the main reason they lost is Garland is really good and he did not play. Style and scheme can only take you so far without enough talent.

I agree, like take Siakam or Turner out for a game against a healthy Cleveland team and Indy has no chance. Indiana must be one of the luckiest franchises recently---whoever they face in the playoffs has like a top player out.

I love Udoka's coaching but going for long stretches with Sengun, Adams AND Thompson may have been overdoing it a little. Would have liked to see VV-Brooks-Eason-Smith-Adams or Sengun line-up more. Smith was shooting the ball well the entire series.
However I think they need to trade Green at this point. You really can't rely on him providing anything in such games. Bad plays, bad decisions, bad shot making. Give Houston a true shooter and efficient scorer at the 2 and they'll be good to go far.

It is also interesting to see how often they went to Sengun in the post while the Knicks are hard-pressed to find KAT a couple times here and there and KAT being the much better shooter and has much better touch than Sengun.

The Knicks should be taking a page out of the Rockets playbook. Play the big line-up more. Go more through Towns in the post. Just think about this:

The Rockets played the Warriors as tough as imaginable (a team many picked to contend for the title after the trade) while really not having a single reliable scoring option outside Sengun who averaged 20 points. What Sengun can do in the post, Towns can do times 3. Green, outside game 2 averaged 8points on 30/25% type of splits. Horrific.

I'm telling you with full confidence---if Udoka is coaching the Knicks we win 5-6 out of those 11 games against the elite teams in the regular season, beat the Pistons in 5 and everyone would be waiting with anticipation for the Boston series to start, expecting a tough, hard fought 7-game series going either way. Instead everyone is waiting for Thibs' nonsense coaching to resume and the Celtics putting us away swiftly.....
