i used that term because somebody else said chasing lamarcus would have been an indication of that.

i agree though, what zeke did was something very different.

Got you, I was gonna say Zeke's issues were mainly trade related so the FA comparisons are tougher to align. Plus any Zeke comparison is just hella insulting, I'm no fan of Walsh's tenure but I still wouldn't drop the Z word on him

Yeah Phil gets a bad rap because of the $$$ he gets but who cares its not our money.

Phil hasn't traded away a 1st rounder yet. All of his predecessors did. We have acquired more 2nd rounders than we have given up. He has focused on defense and getting younger non of which we cared about during the layden, zeke, walsh, and grunwald era's.

I mean we are in our best spot roster wise in 15 years honestly. Young players, moveable contracts. All our 1st round picks after this year (not phil's fault).

anyone see the pan am games? That guard for Brazil can really shoot it. I think his name is Vitor Benite, He is 25 yrs old. Seems like he would be a really nice guard for the triangle.

 So true. Grunwald took the worst parts of both...overpaid for an injury prone player with character issues.

Grunwald got the resolution wrong...just because the following failed (Assuming 'A' = baggage and 'B' = injured):

A but not B
B but not A

It doesn't mean you go with

A and B

the worst part is how do you get swindled for a player that probably was going to be waived if they found no takers?

Yeah. I tried my hardest to justify it and...wow...yeah...even I didn't believe what I was typing to try and justify it.

He brought in Bargs to basically combat HIbbert from the pacers. It was really the only reason he was bringing him in. Instead of seeing how much a clumsy fit was he thought. If Copeland can bring out Hibbert (remember that game in the regular season where Copeland played the 5 and we won because Hibbert couldn't defend him beyond the 3).

He thought he could get a 7 footer you could do the same thing offensively cope could do while being able to do a much better job with post defense because he was a legit 7 footer.

Problem was Bargs never really shot close to 40% form 3 at any point in his career.

I have no problem bringing in bargs but to trade a 1st and a couple 2nd's or whatever it was was just silly especially with the rumors coming out that the Raptors were probably going to release him if they couldn't find a trade partner. The front office has to be aware of the situation.

it's funny to see how things worked out afterwards too. 2 years later and both the pacers and the knicks are now dismantled.

which is a learning experience, you never make a desperate move because of a matchup with one team. The turnover in the NBA is so great it makes no sense to build a team to beat another team.

Also they had 3 guys on there roster making a combined almost 50 million (tyson, amare, and bargs) on the roster who were all better players at the 5 position. THey all couldn't play the PF because they were too slow. Amare and Bargs also couldn't play the 5 because they were horrendous help defenders and couldn't rebound.

Almost 75% of our cap was tied up in 3 players who couldn't play together which is laughable.

It's pretty obvious that the media fuels the fan frenzy for the need flashy moves while simultaneously criticizing the Knicks for making them as not building the right way.

They want it both ways but in the end all the care about is their own bottom line, not the Knicks franchise becoming better, and they haven't accomplished anything in life other than getting paid to talk crap.

Their ability to convince the listener that they have a clue what they are talking about is their best skill so they can hop from opinion to opinion with little to no accountability and if they do get called out for it they retreat to a 'this is entertainment' defense.

The critics of Jackson can't put together a fantasy team that even wins their office league yet they feel qualified to make blanket judgments about a man who has guided teams to more rings than he has fingers.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

I feel like any Zeke comparison requires at least 2 future first rounders being shipped and a disregard for defense...but I mean, he definitely was more interested in Jordan and Monroe than Lopez, so if that's the pre-requisite you got it.

zeke was unique.

fail to sign 1st choice in FA market is common thing.
Important thing is your 2nd-3rd choice.

zeke would trade 2-3 1st rounders and then give some crazy un-insuarenced contract to Amare.

phil cant signed DJ for MAX contract but he didnt gave max contract to Bynum. That would be Zeke move..
he didnt give RoLo max deal too. RoLo could get better offers if he stayed little bit more like E.Kanter did. But Phil signed him on good contract. His contract would be bargain in 2 years.
Affalo deal is also reasonable.
O'Quinn move is good too.

maybe affalo wasnt 1st SG option but it wasnt a desperation move for sure.

Phil's A, B, C plans were good for this summer.
Letting Shved go, signing D-Will looks like mistakes he did but all in all i can give him B grade.
I gave A- grade for his drafting. (Not just for Porzingis. Grant is nba ready pg and Hernangomez has m.gasol like potential.)

Probably just a training camp deal (that's where the guaranteed money is). I watched a bunch of UVA games because I liked Justin Anderson a lot and I have never heard Atkins' name once.
