I can see RJ and a brand pushing built for this t shirts. I didn’t know RJ was so into the business side of things. Luckily he seems to love basketball.

Re: Offseason Thread: The Waiting is the Hardest Part
Maybe we should just target Shawn Livingston. That may be KD going forward
Let's hope for the best. I don't know what he'll do but I think the odds are he's not coming back truly dominant. We all wrote off John Wall already. Granted that's different but still.
Don't forget he had the foot bone fracture too. You don't know that you'll even get one really good year out of him from the three.

You know it's a fair point but the Achilles is a big thing. He'd have to be part of a team where he was like 15-18 PPG and a senior member who hits some important shots. Like a more offensive Iguodala.
Maybe he comes back pretty good.
But get him or not get him ... I don't buy this stuff about "He's really tall and he can shoot" ... then why isn't Steve Novak still in the NBA? Shooting is lift, elusiveness and movement, quickness by microseconds. That's all affected by the Achilles. Let's be real.
According to the fairy tale authors on this board, KD being 7 feet tall means he will just jack shots over everyone regardless of the achilles.
He can move around the court on his scooter though
He could motorize deez nuts too

Re: Offseason Thread: The Waiting is the Hardest Part
I seem to be the only Knick fan left who genuinely DGAF about the Nets. I wish them well, whatever.
All I really care about is that $500,000,000 this offseason that ISN’T being spent on Porzingis, Flat Earth, or KD’s achilles.
Unless AD or Kawhi was coming, the best move has always been to sit tight, draft well, and see if Fizdale can actually coach.

I cannot stand this as well. What was the difference between the money if he resigned with OKC instead of taking the paycut to ring chase? It can't be that much. I know the contract was less. But he got rings, more exposure, and viewed as the best player in the world.
They think it's a respect thing. Like, "hey, next time, when I'm not ring chasing, I'm going to get what I'm worth. I can't have John Wall get paid more than me".
I can deal with a MF as long as his vanity is behind closed doors so all of the public juju gets funneled towards the success of his team. MJ has been called a miserable bastard by many people, but all I remember about him was him playing his butt off and winning, not talking about his wealth or lust for it. At the end of the day, the book on him was he was a winner, not the guy with the biggest shoe deal of all time. I already survived one of these me first guys in Melo and I'm now wary of how I'll respond to a guy like KD and I'd rather not find out.
MJ went through his "pay me" phase too. Pretty sure he publicly threatened to join the Knicks if the Bulls didn't pay him
I think some people forget the NBA is a BUSINESS. Fans often look at it for the love of the game and nothing more. Those in it consider all aspects -- INCLUDING their paycheck.

I can't wait to see how some of you have to take back some of your slanderous words and comments when free agency goes differently than the naysayers and doubters are predicting.
AT LEAST SAVE SOME OF THE "I Never Wanted Him Anyway" COMMENTS UNTIL AFTER AN ACTUAL DECISION IS ANNOUNCED!
Are you aware he ruptured his Achilles?
Yes, KEVIN DURANT ruptured his Achilles. However, there are other top free agents besides him -- yet posters are still predicting we get NOTHING, which, IMO, is kinda silly to do at this point.
No decision from ANY free agent has been announced. I suggest we at least wait for the real thing rather than spend hours reacting to rumors that sway with the wind.
The direction seems to be coming from the brass though. They're gonna roll it over basically if Kawhi doesn't come, is what it sounds like.

I wonder if top FAs gets pissy if a team doesn't call them first.

Re: Offseason Thread: The Waiting is the Hardest Part
It's sort of true. Kyrie can fill it up with the best of them but you take away one game and really one shot and Kyrie's career looks more like wreckage than triumph. He produces but with baggage and the only time he won big was next to Bron where he caught fire in a big game.
He's small and plays the game in a kind of ball-stopping way, though he's a decent passer and not as selfish as advertised. He is as problematic as advertised though -- there are drawbacks that are clear.
But there are no perfect players left except maybe Kawhi.

All we do is talk about the business of the NBA with trade checkers and cap space considerations. Nobody is forgetting any of this whether it is a team making deals or a player getting paid. But there are people whose ASPECTS are more weighted to the mercenary.
Fans have every right to question a player's love of the game if they lack a passion for the sport that matches the intensity of those same fans who SUBSIDIZE that player's paycheck.
Yes, it is possible to be a great competitor and money hungry, but when a player is very vocal about their hunger for big paydays it should be no surprise if it signals to fans a suspect set of priorities.

Except the point is Kawhi could come. KD could come. Nobody knows yet because nothing has happened yet. However, posters are already acting like it's over before it's even begun.
