Why exactly didn't we go after him? We'd have our 2 guard set for the future.

he seems like a head case off the court and has a reputation of causing trouble in the locker room. i guess the knicks didn't want any of that here like most teams. that's why the rockets got him for free. but yeah, he is very talented and is really what we need at the 2 guard

That's the same reason people on here didn't want Jaden McDaniels, who is now arguably a top 20 defender as a rookie. He does seem like a headcase, but it would be pretty easy to just cut him loose if things didn't work out. Maybe he's the type to go to Brownsville and get involved in woo vs cho beef though

you know i actually think steve mills would've made a move for kevin porter. he seemed to have liked taking flyers on young talents that had upside like julius randle, dennis smith. he had the right idea but didn't provide the right infrastructure on developing the players. that's what our new front office is good at. but it seems like our front office only wants hard working gym rats and want no distractions at all. so i guess that's why they didn't want porter.

i don't recall jaden mcdaniels being a headcase though. people here didn't want him cause they thought he sucked as a basketball player. i remember someone compared him to knox and i was like huh. but that's another story

From the outside it seems easy, but if you are on the team(or with the team) you are in the locker room with this dude, practices, team bus and flights...basically intimate situations where one bad apple can throw off the entire team's mindset.

That said there are good headcases like Marcus Smart, Metta World Peace or Vernon Maxwell..

..and bad ones like JR Rider. J. R. Smith or Andrew Bynum ...from the reports I've read Porter Jr. may be in the 2nd group.

it's not a good pairing. even offensively it's not great.

I don’t see why not!!

They can both play make and spread the floor!!!

I think you guys just don’t like Kat!!!

Because him and Kat are a perfect fit!!!!

Nah I don't see it. Not even offensively but def not defensively. There is a giant flashing light in front of us and it says Randle works with a defensive 5. Why doubt or test that when it's pretty clear.

Kat is just as good of a defender if not better than taj and taj and Julius work together just fine!!!!

taj gibson is way better than kat as a defender right now. just look at the impact he has.
Taj Gibson, 35, has been an ageless wonder for the Knicks this season. He has stepped into the backup center role and given the Knicks 20.2 good minutes each night. They’re 4.6 points-per-100-possessions better with him on the floor than when he’s sitting, and Gibson has shown his defense is still very helpful.

Dame is among the very few guys I’d support going all in for (sans Julius and RJ).

I love IQ, I really do. And it would pain me to have to include him. But if that’s what it would take to land Dame, I think you have to do it.

To do otherwise would be to risk repeating the 76ers blunder of losing out on Harden by drawing the line on Maxey (who’s admittedly inferior to our guy IQ).

Dame + Randle + RJ in the Mecca with the new culture that’s been established would not only be a fearsome core, but would also be a major draw for every top free agent that hits the market.

I thus think you have to go all in if this becomes a real possibility.

Just to annoy the Bulls we should retire Gibson, Rose and Thibs to the rafters.
