College/Draft thread. Knicks Currently have Picks 12 and 45

Thats a good thing and the beauty of drafting teenagers, even after a year in the G League he STILL will be 19 years old. There is a couple of players in this draft I would love to get and would not care about if they played next season. Knicks needs to start thinking about 3-4 years from now instead of today.

Im just not confident the Knicks currently can change this short minded outlook to even have a player like that waiting for them, and they pick him because of him being "raw "

Lillard's been lobbying for a 2-Way wing with size. Maybe think about moving Obi/Cam/11th pick for the 6th pick if you believe Sharpe will be there. That would be an amazing pick plus the Kentucky connection. You know brass would do it.

Portland can put a PF and a wing next to Dame:

Lillard/Simons/Cam/Obi/Nurkic.

Still have 2 draft picks (#11 & #15) to select or trade for depth. Athletic enough to compete, young enough to pivot if Lillard wants out. If they would like some veteran presence, expand the deal to include any of (Rose/Burks/Fournier/Noel) in exchange for Bledsoe.

If the Knicks can get Brunson and keep Mitch, then

Brunson/Rose/McBride
Sharpe/Grimes
RJ/Fournier
Randle/Sims/Taj
Mitch/Noel

Package Quickley/Burkes for a late pick.

I think you're underselling the value of what the Knicks would be giving up across the board, and this is coming from a guy that just posted that the Knicks don't have a lot of great assets.

On another note I was watching this “locked on Knicks” video that was okay… but they brought up a good point. The Knicks might use trade capitol to move “up” in the draft to get someone. Lee constantly are aware they have little chance at guys like Mathurin, or Ivey…. But the Knicks have the assets to package for a deal. Maybe they could move up to 6 or 7 in this draft if someone they like is there.

Yeah that's something that they definitely should be working extra hard to do. They don't need more quantity when it comes to young players, they need quality. And taking all those draft assets and honestly even a guy that is already on the team to move up via consolidating assets would be a real good idea. Whether they can or not, that remains to be seen. But for sure, they should heavily be looking at moving up.

I agree. Also, the narrative that they would only move down seems a bit short-sighted. I think they'll make moves as needed to improve the team.

Perhaps. I guess I'm just taking into account how much Thibs has undervalued these kids, how desperate Lepn would be to get what they want (given the Cal/Randle/Kentucky connection) and how quickly teams would look to raise prices with the understanding of the direction we're headed.

If we could get keep RJ for a possible Zion reunion in NY's future, pair Sharpe with Randle (for now) AND get Leon's god son Brunson here.... EVERYONE would be happy to show up at work.

Yep, they'll probably send Dame to a win now team which is how the league is set up or something crazy will happen like the Lakers will send Lebron to the Blazers for their first round pick to begin their own rebuild.

Even though he didn't play a lick of basketball this season it's really hard for a team to pass on a guy that has Sharpes type of everything packaged into one player. Really hard. Had he played in college I don't doubt he'd be in the discussion for a top pick. He was the no.1 ranked player in his HS class and when you factor in his physical tools and athleticism and ability score on 3 levels he'd likely could be in the top 3 discussions. He's in the bottom half of the top 10 in most mocks not because of talent and upside, but because of not playing this year. If he somehow manages to still be on the board at 11 (and he won't once workouts start with NBA teams even if he might be right now) the Knicks definitely should take him.
