But still all joking aside, I thought he got fired for wanting to demote Hackett??
That seems more like the "Security had to escort him out" stuff. Clickbaity BS from talking heads.
Saleh got fired for being a terrible head coach. The team was underprepared, out-game-planned, undisciplined, and vocally turning on him. I'm not just talking about Rodgers here. His postgame pressers were so excuse-laden that Quincy Williams must have said "Accountability" five times in an interview last week.
He's had the job for 3+ years, during which time the Jets had the third-worst record in football. They were something like 2-7 on long rest, which is just appalling.
Firing Saleh and removing Hackett's playcalling obviously won't solve everything (in fact, I think Keith Carter might somehow be worse than those two with how much O-Line players have regressed under his guidance). But those are proper steps to take since they didn't rip the band-aid off during the offseason.
Is there consensus among Jets fans that the talent-level of this team is playoff caliber? It seems to me that Joe Douglas’s head has to be on the chopping block as well.
It may just be the team is over-rated.
Rogers is not the Rogers of 2021. His mobility used to be a plus, now he's not agile. Add to that his attitude and diffuse focus (Egypt and not playing pre-season) and he's firmly in the Watson, Wilson too big to fail but failing anyway camp.
The D is okay against bad teams but SF put up 30plus and Buff could have done the same but for a 4th down 3yrd line FG goal line stand and another missed FG.
Problem is they cant play the Patriots, Panthers or Browns every week.
In the NFC North they'd be fifth.
