Re: Trades and Transactions Ideas Thread
I'll be honest, I think Robinson will have a career year off the bench at 20-24 MPG.

If Kennard is the return for Robinson somebody should be fired.

Sure. And Marcus Camby was a huge injury liability early in his career and ended up playing almost 1000 nba games.
Mitchell Robinson shut down Embiid. We don't have to keep him but we need to value him.

we're not gonna be paying ihart and Mitchell Robinson a combined 30m/yr to average 12ppg between them.
that's not roster building. thats stupidity

He and Josh Hart make the identity of this team. Them and Jalen.
As you said, he's not untouchable but he should be valued.
Without him, the team loses some of the edge and selflessness that makes it greater than the sum of its parts.
He's a difference-maker when healthy. It's up to the organization to manage his health better. It was obvious they shouldn't have cleared him to play when he aggravated his injury in December.

Randle wants to remain in NY and last season he completely adjusted his play to what the Knicks demand of him (attacking basketball and cutting out most of the nonsense midrange game). The way he was playing he is actually a very good 2nd option next to Brunson. He is probably a top 5 PF in the league but definitely a top 8 PF.
I think you guys are wasting energy unnecessarily thinking of Randle trade scenarios. I think for the Knicks to consider a deal it would have to be a no-brainer/steal type of deal which is they can't reject. Randle will be a knick next season. There is only one team that may be able to beat a healthy knick squad in the east and that is Boston. There isn't going to be a major shake up. At most they'll be looking at converting the Bogs deal along with picks for another wing player.
Mark my words--On opening day the Knick squad will include Brunson, Hart, DD, OG, Randle for sure and most certainly also Deuce, Ihart, Mitch and Precious. This team has everything. Like I said, I myself am someone calling for trades/changes regularly in the past but this team is a 60 win team and is gonna fight Boston for the 1st seed in the east. They aren't going to break that up easily and neither should they.
We do not have enough salary fillers to trade for a superstar unless he is cheap or we trade Randle. Bojan + MItch barely hits 33M. If we include some end-of-bench players we barely reach 40M. Probably, we need the same amount of salary going in going out.
Besides, Randle brings fitting issues. If we get a second scorer like Donovan, the team does not need Randle as our third scorer. We need defense to balance the team.

Technically... if we bundle Mitch, Bogs, McBride, Diakete, and maybe one more bench guy like Sims, we should be able to use that (and picks) to trade for a guy like PG13 or Butler... theoretically...

Giddey is perfect for a young team like POR, DET, or the Hornets. Knicks... not so much.

correct if you want a guy that can create some looks and get close to a triple double on below avg EFF on a bad team sure he makes sense.
All of our moves going forward need to be made with the playoffs in mind.
We now have a floor (playoffs). Now we need to make moves with an eye on bigger things. If guys wouldn't fit into a playoff roster they aren't worth acquiring.

Actually I disagree. At this stage he has had so many injuries that we'd never get anything close to a fair return----see the suggestion of Luke Kennard for Mitch. We need to keep him and load manage him heavily. Maybe he should consider dropping 15-20 pounds to limit stress on his feet.
I honestly think there has been a major silver lining this season with all the injuries. With the emergence of guys like Hartenstein, Precious, Deuce, Josh Hart, DD our team is so deep and loaded that even someone like Thibs understands that he has the luxury to closely load manage Mitch. Him and Hartenstein are great to have if healthy but both are injury prone. Hartenstein also has those chronic achilles injuries--keep that in mind. It is ideal to have both around and split minutes between them and limit the amount of games to 60. That way you can have enough minutes for Precious as well to keep everybody healthy. Neither Mitch nor Hartenstein are really suited to play 30+ minutes in the NBA regularly.
If Thibs draws the right conclusions from this season---as crazy as it may sound--- this season can potentially have been the perfect setup for multiple title runs in the next 3-4 years. Our role players are oozing with confidence.
Mitch was playing 25 MPG. Load management wasn't why he got injured.
Medical staff cleared him to play IIRC. Then he needed surgery to repair a broken ankle after that. That is a problem in and of itself. The Embiid BS was as disgusting as it gets but, let's be honest. Mitch is injured every year. He's no ironman player.
That said, I want to run back the same team and hope Thibs can expand the rotations during the regular season...if we just add some bench depth and he uses it.
I trust the FO to do their thing. I don't trust the HC to do what obviously needs to be done. Stop grinding the players into dust during the regular season. The summer is almost here. Let's see what happens.

I do not think so. PG and Butler salary is 48M. These 5 guys totalizes 42M

but since no one respects his jumper teams would just sag off of him and he really wouldn't be effective...just like he wasn't effective for OKC in playoffs.
