Also on Bob Papa's podcast with Carl Banks he said that a lot can change between now and the end of the year the Giants just need someone to start the HC search. So doesn't sound like Schoen is safe right now.

This is also interesting. I like Freeman. Would need to load his staff with OC/DC choices but I think this is the type of hire we need to have a guy that commands respect rather than just an X's/O's guy.

We also have a lot of connects with Notre Dame.

Eh, I think Schoen is safe. They wouldn't have named him in the statement if he wasn't.

I do wonder how much Mara's health is factoring in to this. I doubt he really wants to be hands-on enough at this stage to conduct a full GM search.

A lot of smoke is coming out today from Duggan, Papa, and other respected guys in the building that he isn't safe. Mara's health is playing a factor in that he wants him to start the GM search but eveyrone is saying Mara and Tisch are picking the HC (not sure if that is a good thing)...Schoen could have a recommendation but the situation is fluid.

Also it was reported that if the new HC that Mara/Tisch picked wanted to bring in a GM he wanted to work with they would probably let that happen as well.

Basically status quo right now and wants Schoen to do all the preliminary stuff in terms of setting up the interviews and getting a bunch of candidates...but if Mara is picking the HC and if they want certain HC's they might not want to work with Schoen...so sounds like he's on borrowed time.

Well sounds like you're following this closer than I am, so if those are the vibes, then I am happy to hear that.

We can't repeat the Coughlin/Reese mistake we made before. The FO needs to move in unison and own the results together.

I dont think the problem is coaches with no HC experience. The NFL is ripe with first time HC succeeding plenty over the last 5+ years. The problem is that the FO sucks at evaluating what makes a coach successful.

homie from ND would be a dude that has proven more as a coach than Mac, Judge, Daboll even if only on college level.
