Not true. He has acquired more 2nd rounders then he has given up.

Grunnie gave them all away.

Grunwald did not give them all away. Grunwald was responsible for the 2016 and 2017 2nd round picks, but Jackson (who was hired March 2014) is responsible for the following:

2018 second round draft pick to Philadelphia
Philadelphia will receive the more favorable of the L.A. Clippers' 2018 2nd round pick and New York's 2018 2nd round pick and New York will receive the less favorable of these two picks (via Philadelphia's right to swap L.A. Clippers for New York) [L.A. Clippers-Philadelphia, 2/20/2014; New York-Philadelphia, 10/27/2014]; this pick conveyance is the same as the one described in "2018 second round draft pick from L.A. Clippers" on Philadelphia Credits

2019 second round draft pick to Philadelphia
New York's 2019 2nd round pick to Philadelphia [New York-Philadelphia, 10/27/2014]

2020 second round draft pick to Philadelphia
New York's 2020 2nd round pick to Philadelphia [New York-Philadelphia, 6/26/2015]

2021 second round draft pick to Philadelphia
New York's 2021 2nd round pick to Philadelphia [New York-Philadelphia, 6/26/2015]

But he is also responsible for acquiring 7 second round picks and 1 first round pick. Its misleading to mention one without the other. Like I said, Grunnie gave up 6 second round picks. He put us in depth and Phil has at least replinished them a little.

we have 3 going out and 1 swap, but we also have 3 future 2nd rounders coming back thanks to Phil (along with the 4 second rounders we already picked up)

2017 second round draft pick from Houston
Houston's 2017 2nd round pick to New York [Houston-New York, 2/19/2015]

2019 second round draft pick from Cleveland

2019 second round draft pick from Houston

Oh sure. But still really stresses the point that 2nd rounders aren't that valuable at all if Jackson was able to acquire so many and deal so many. If they were valuable Jackson wouldn't have been able to get so many of them and certainly wouldn't have traded so many.

They have some value, but i wouldnt call them super valuable. Its like a 10% to 15% chance you hit on a player. A lot of the trades are just shuffling picks around. If you see a player in the second round you like, might as well try to get him.

For example, the trade where we gave up 2020 and 2021 second rounders but got the 35th pick from Philly for Hernangomez. If you look at it now we owe 2 future picks, but I thought that was a good chance to take. If he pans out it was well worth the 2 future picks. Even if he doesnt I think gambling on a young Euro is a good shot to take.

But on the other hand i dont really like giving 2nd rounders away like the Outlaw trade.

Overall at least we are in the plus though.

Yeah I wouldn't say moving the 2020 and 2021 picks were "giving away" those picks. We acquired someone that the organization thought could be first round value when he comes over next year.

the 2018 swap and 2019 traded pick I have questioned but than again its not my $$$. I believe that move saved the knicks close to 10 million in luxury tax payments in moving outlaw, and it opened up a space to sign Wear who we all wanted.

As fans would you just like the knicks to cut Outlaw and eat the $$$? Sure 100%

But than again its not our $$$.

I know we got a couple second rounders for prigs but the previous post about how well Phil has done accumulating pics without giving up any doesn't sound right to me.

I think this is just about everything

We got:
-2 2nd rounders for Tyson
-1 2nd rounder for Shump/JR
-2 2nd rounders for Prigs
-1 first rounder for Hardway.
-1 2nd rounder for 2 2nd rounders (Hernangomez)

We traded:
-1 2nd rounder to Philly (Outlaw for Moultrie)
-2 2nd rounders for 1 2nd rounder (Hernangomez)
-1 2nd rounder SWAP in a sign and trade for O'Quinn (Orlando has the rights to swap 2nd rounders in 2019)
-Phil also removed protection on on our 2016 2nd rounder (protected 31-37) which was already traded by Grunnie

http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/NYK/2015_transactions.html

So I think Phil got 6 second rounders and 1 first rounder

Phil traded 4 second rounders traded, 1 second rounder swapped and removed protection on another that was already traded

Thank you! Grant = 1st rounder - I was thinking/hoping when I read your post we had another first coming.
Thanks again.

I do kinda feel Seraphin is redundant with OQuinn. Unless you plan on playing one of them at backup C if Porzingis doesn't start.

Does Seraphin strike you guys as "a learner"?
I'd still consider him more of an asset to be had over Boozer but Booz, he of 'hair in a can' does have a discernible NBA skill as a pretty good midrange shooter and part time low post guy.

You want Amare 2.0 on defense with Boozer?

Seraphin would be a really good signing at this point if we could get him. He can play C or PF. We could use the big man depth.

I'd take Boozer for the vets min too.

yeah honestly both of those guys are smart pickups for us

the less pressure there is on KP to score and play major mins from day one the better

right now we have very little scoring in general and almost none inside
