Even though:
-Literally nothing he said about this issue has come to pass. Ever.
-Every major news outlet, including Denver's own media refutes this
-It makes no sense for Melo to think this way

If Anthony doesn't like the current Nets supporting cast, he's not going to like the kinds of players that they can import via trade between now and February. I think both the Nets and Denver are spinning their wheels, and that a trade with the Knicks is inevitable.

I think a trade is iminent. I wonder if Melo would make a public statement or still play nice with Denver. I know he wants to be professional but its no secret he has used back channels during this time to get out a message or 2. Will he change the game by putting himself out there and saying I want out and making a strong statement.

Not sure if posted already.

The Mavericks are aggressively trying to acquire Carmelo Anthony, according to league source.
Dallas isn't concerned about receiving any assurances from Anthony about signing a long-term deal after the season.
Mark Cuban is eager not only to add Anthony to an already dangerous roster, but also to steal him from the Nets and billionaire rival Mikhail Prokhorov.

Cuban is an idiot. They won't win a ring with turning over the roster once again.

I woulnt put it past Melo to re-sign in Dallas if they win it all, like Sheed did in Detroit. The Mavs are a top notch organization with a great owner. They are legit title contenders now so imagine if you swap Caron Butler for Melo? They wouldnt "turn over the roster" if its just a rental package. That team would be epic and better than ours.
So yes, if you're begging for Melo, I would be VERY worried about Dallas.

Trading for Carmelo isn't "turning over the roster" and its not like Carmelo is a ball dominant player. Out of all the stars in the league, a player like him and Durant would be the easiest players to fit onto any team. Every team can use a great scorer and when that great scorer isn't a ball dominant player, it just makes the job easier. They have Kidd running the point. Do you think he'd have a hard time getting Carmelo into the mix?
A trade would probably consist of Caron, Haywood, and a pick or Butler, Caron, and a pick. Either way, slide Melo in there for either deal and the Mavericks are a better team and gets them out of Haywood's contract.
Dirk, Terry, and Carmelo on the same team leave them with 3 players capable of taking over the game, and 2 of them are great shooters from beyond the arc. Chemistry wouldn't be an issue.

Butler for Melo does not work under the cap. There has to be more pieces involved. As the other poster suggested maybe Haywood will be involved. Which would make it impossible for them to beat a team like San Antonio or Lakers or Boston. You need all the size you can get to beat those teams. Dallas has enough talent at this point to win it all. It is a matter of chemistry. Their GM has been turning the roster over every February. And guess what it does not work. Sheed to Detroit is another story. Detroit gave up zero rotation players in that deal.

So lets say Caron, Haywood, Roddy B, and a pick or something. That still makes them a much better team. Ian Mahinmi would just take Haywoods role, and thats assuming they dont make anymore additional moves which they might.
Kidd
DeShawn
Melo
Dirk
Tyson
Marion
Terry
Barea
Mahinmi
Cmon bro. That team is scary. Lets not make Brendan Haywood a God now. He plays 19 mpg. Yeah Cuban turns the roster over alot, but Melo is on a different level than any of his past moves. Him and Dirk would be insane.

Why would a rebuilding Denver want Butler over our young guys ??

Because our young guys aren't that good. Butler gives them a player that will allow them to remain competitive now, and he's expiring. They also get a big man which they will need to slide Nene to his natural position, not to mention Martin is expiring so they need another big man anyway. Its not a bad trade for either team.
Billups
Afflalo
Butler
Nene
Haywood
That's a better defensive team than they have right now and they get a pick out of it. Gallinari, Fields, Douglas, and Chandler aren't players that will keep that team competitive and none of them are players that you should build a team around. If you good team make a trade, its to start over, gain fan support, or be more competitive. You don't make a trade to get your team stuck in mediocrity, at least that's not what a good team does.
All of that said, I don't see Denver making that trade. I'm sure they can get better than that. It would probably need to be a 3 team deal to get the Mavericks and Nuggets to complete a trade.

1. SPITE
2. Maybe Roddy Beaubois is involved too. I know Dallas loves him but hes their best young player.
Im just saying I would take Dallas seriously in this. Cuban doesnt f*ck around. Hes the only one crazy enough to give up some real pieces on a 23-5 team for a shot at renting Melo if he thinks Melo clearly puts them over the top.
So yes, Denver might take their package over ours. Denver is being a stubborn assmonkey right now so I wouldnt put it past em.

That would be great for us if Dallas trades for Melo with no extension.

If Denver's requirements are young prospect, good picks and expiring deals then no contender can really provide such a package. If they really start considering such packages then we should be able to get in the mix and offer the best package.

It is not that simple. It is not about making Haywood god. You realize that Boston lost to the Lakers last year because Perkins went down?
This is about chemistry. You plug Melo into Butler's role? Butler is an above average defender. Will Melo give that intensity? Especially given he is not even sure he wants to be there. Dallas is there in terms of talent. They already beat San Antonio, Miami etc. this year. They need continuity and chemistry and all the big men they can keep at this point. Not another scorer no matter what the name is.

You have to be out of your mind if you think Boston lost to the Lakers because Perkins went down. Boston lost to the Lakers because they made ridiculously stupid plays down the stretch and didn't step on the Lakers throat when Kobe was having one of the worst games of his career. Perkins wasn't the difference in winning or losing that series and its foolish to claim otherwise.

I disagree. Boston would have won the series if Perkins was playing in the final game.
