I hope Shumpert shows us he can play the point.

That would certainly make things simpler.

Wow!!! A center that the Knicks have been looking for years. I like this move. Sorry Billups but the Knicks must do this. We can try signing a veteran PG. Paul may still be in the mix but if not then maybe Steve Nash to mentor one of young point guards.

This news made my day. I hope it does not twist like the Lebron sweepstakes.

I think Miami and Chicago are still better teams than we are. I'd say we're pretty close with Boston, but they're a team that isn't going to be hurt by a shortened training camp/preseason, because of their experience together.

I agree

Haha, no it's okay. I'm pretty excited about the season, and although I thought Paul was a possibility, I never viewed it as a sure thing.

yea, believe me, I am a HUGE paul fan, but lets be real, how many teams in the history of the league has enough assets to obtain melo one year and then paul the next.. LOL.. really, two elite players in their mid 20's.. come on.... not happenning unless they do what miami did... and I am not sold on that either..

if chandler is healthy and yes, we overpaid, we did, but if healthy, he keeps amare at PF, extending his career, it gives us a defensive presence and a rebounder.... now I hate to amnesty billups, but honestly, I hate he was traded here, he never wanted to leave denver at this point in his career....

I will reserve judgment on this deal pending chandler health, but it was the right move, from a position standpoint.....

Barea as a starter is dumping salt in the wound

Just to clarify, after the Chandler signing, we only have the 2.5 mill exception left to sign any more players?

Even if Shump can play PG, we'd still need another...because Douglas definitely can't.

All hope lies on him now. Because not only does D'Antoni employ a PG-driven system, the pieces we have (outside of Melo) rely heavily on a playmaking PG to score efficiently. I can't see the point of having Amare anymore now that we have no room to pick up an elite playmaker.

Ok, the amnesty waiver is a bidding war. Each team that puts in a claim also puts in a bid and the highest bidder wins. You would think someone will put in a bid on Baron, so that probably eliminates him.

Barea is no better than Douglas.

Dallas fans don't want him back.

I'm glad we went with Chandler. A good center is hard to find.

We did overpay, but at least we overpaid in the right area. And compared to the options in 2012 outside of Paul/Deron/Howard, he seems like the right player to target. The only centers available in 2012 are Oden and Kaman.

The health issue is a concern. But on the plus side, he just turned 29 so he should be in good shape for the duration of his contract.

We need to figure out the point guard situation, but I think that'll happen.
