Taking this to the KP thread...

I understand that. By the same token, all of the criticism coming at KP right now is a direct result of his own actions and words and not at all from anything coming from the team. He missed the meeting, he blew off calls, he has been confirming all the rumors of his dissatisfaction on social media, and he has been confirming that he has not reached out to the org himself after all this.
What he did with that IG post yesterday pissed me off more than anything he'd done yet. If he had half a brain he'd know that the
initial rumors yesterday were coming from the standpoint of the opposition. And if he didn't have a brain but had half a degree of sense he would have called and asked. Howard Beck was able to talk directly to somebody in Knick management. Lord knows he could have, as well.
As others have suggested, the Knicks are likely setting up numerous smokescreens with their draft process and fielding these calls to bring in suitors for any number of other deals they may want to bring in help. Their incredibly high asking price keeps interested parties on the phone. Him confirming his dissatisfaction did the Knicks brass no favors/leverage in their own negotiations. If his goal was to force himself out of NY, he may have accomplished just that.
Phil's treatment of Melo was a real problem but to date it's been separate from how they treated literally anyone else on the team. Hell, Rose went AWOL and all they had for him was praise for whatever reason.
