We are not far off with Noah, Hardaway, Lee trio. At least those guys you mention play today's game.

To be fair Noah and Lee were not signed this summer. So Pat Riley and Miami spent 100 million more dollars for mediocrity.
And none can shoot like Hardaway.

This is why having a top notch front office is so critical. To which, my guess is Dolan has pretty much told Mills to figure out who the next President of Basketball Operations should be. So...yeah...we doomed.

I still take this over Waiters, though.

apparently we're in the minority and waiters is a steal

Dion shot better than him and can actually put the ball on the floor and create off the dribble. 4/52 for Dion >>>> 4/71 for THJ. I wouldn't want either on my team though.

Dion is a career 34% shooter from 3 and he was 65% on free throws last year. Dion isn't good. At all. They gave 52 million to a bad player.

I could see C Lee going to the Hawks in a sign and trade for Hardaway

Lee would have one year less, is cheaper, and might fit their style of play

Never liked THJ when he was here the first time. For this contract he better have really turned a corner. Other than the fact that he is young and can grow with the rest of the young core I don't see why this deal was made. Just seems like an overspend and typical Knicks misuse of resources.

I would have much rather spent the cap room in other ways like Aldrich+1st or Smart plus hold onto some room for a vet PG or other deals to bring in assets.

But hopefully THJ did turn that corner and becomes more than what I saw in his first stint in NY.
All-Time Draft

PG- Oscar Robertson/Bob Cousy
SG- Earl Monroe/James Harden/Dana Barros
SF- Billy Cunningham/Michael Finley/Chet Walker
PF- Elvin Hayes/Dolph Schayes/Tom Chambers/Danny Manning
C- Walt Bellamy/Neil Johnston/Darryl Dawkins

So let me get this straight....you guys traded away THjr to get Grant, move Grant and Lopez for Rose and Holiday, essentially cut bait with those two, only to sign THjr to a Noah like deal? That FO is officially the worst ever, since it doesn't seem to matter whose running that clown show. You guys need Donnie Walsh back, stat.

I'm truly stunned at how awful that deal is....did Mills say, well we gotta spend the cap on someone?!

We already signed Tim outright. If we're trading lee then we're getting something else in return for him.

In the Triangle? I doubt it. There's a reason Jackson traded him. His skills were not a fit in the Triangle. He doesn't move well without the ball, he can't create his own shot, he doesn't defend well and his shooting wasn't enough to offset everything else.

The contract should not even matter really. If you think he can play is all that should matter. This is the new NBA, Dudes will be getting paid. So get over the contract part. All that should matter is can THJ play. The Answer is yes.

Quit trying to spin garbage into gold....Johnson is ten times the player Hardaway is, and Noah is the worst contract in the league. How can anyone try to be positive on this move?..... it's pathetic.

I mean we traded Tim for Jerian, Jerian for Rose, used Rose's cap space for Tim... Full circle.

Billy Goat wrote:You let the same exact player in Holiday walk for nothing and give Hardaway 71 million plus the poison pill. Sounds like the Knicks.

Holiday was cheaper than i expected. I like him, and i do think he was worth signing at that contract. But consider them 'the exact same player' is WAY off. Holiday is a better defender than Hardaway, but he is nowhere near close the same player. Atlanta often looked for getting the ball to Hardaway when big shots was needed. His ball handling has improved to the degree, where he was often the player to take the ball up the court. And he had 23 games of more than 20 points. Holiday was ever gonna be that guy offensively. Hardaway even shot more effeciently this past season, despite often being needed to create his own shot.

I can understand if Hardaway seems overpaid, but there is no comparison to Holiday. There is a legit chance that Hardaway will become a 20 PPG player on fairly good shooting percentage.
