Talking about Melo's go-ahead FGs is a little funny. The team lost a ton. Who cares how many go-ahead FGs he had.
Anyway, I wasn't really trying to inject controversy about Melo again. At least not anything new. And I'm not that spiritual about basketball but yes, with Melo gone I expect the team will have a new birth of freedom. Some of that is not even Melo's fault.
The Knicks used to play a better brand of basketball without Ewing at times too. If you want to win big, you need some top players, but you can at least be moving in the right direction first. We are stuck with Melo and Rose, etc.
As far as Melo and KP, I think we'll pass more and he won't have to do iso all the time or anything. But the larger point is that KP is either a 1st scorer, a 2nd scorer, or a 3rd scorer. I hope to hell he's not a 4th scorer. His talent and ability will dictate. We need to see what we have and Melo leaving helps that, but of course that doesn't mean KP will blossom just because Melo leaves. Of course not. KP may simply be a good all-around player who can score a little, and Melo staying/leaving probably doesn't alter his ceiling one way or the other a whole lot.
