Only he wasn't actually a first overall pick.

You have proven yet again to be a misinformed GM.

The more you try to get cute and throw barbs, they keep boomeranging back to you, making you look foolish.

2018 NBA DRAFT

SATURDAY JUNE 16

1. Orlando Magic- Marvin Bagley III (Duke University)
2. Cleveland Cavaliers- Deandre Ayton (University of Arizona
3. Indiana Pacers- Luka Doncic (Real Madrid- Spain)
4. Charlotte Hornets- Mohamed Bamba (University of Texas)
5. New Orleans Pelicans- Trae Young (Oklahoma University)
6. Charlotte Hornets- Jaren Jackson Jr. (Michigan St. University)
7. San Antonio Spurs- Michael Porter Jr. (Missouri University)
8. New Orleans Pelicans- Mikal Bridges (Villanova University)
9. Philadelphia 76ers- Miles Bridges (Michigan St. University)

I mean is there anything else that needs to be spelled out for you?

I'm talking about IRL. Where he was drafted 2nd between Ayton and Luka.

He wasn't given an extension cuz Illmatic is no longer in the game, Smash obviously wanted to open up cap so he traded him to me for Nunn's cheap deal, and I haven't extended him yet cuz I still have time and don't have the cap space atm. And I may trade him if I can't open up space.

Either way what you inferred was wrong. Him not receiving an extension yet is a matter of circumstances, not lack of production, IRL or in the SIM.

But again, I don't expect you to see the value in him and his upside, his production vs contract, and his extendability; when you are the GM who traded Lauri for Love.

I haven't extended Zion yet for the same reasons. It's a big chunk of cash, and we can put it off if needed.

Yes I traded for Love who will be better than both Lauri and Bagley in this sim. Who only has two years left on his deal that I can ride out and have a nice extra 222 bucks in free agency. I have zero qualms with trading Lauri for Love, I’d do it over and over.

I literally have zero interest in continuing this, do you man.

Either way if I wanted to trade him It'd make more sense to hold off extending him because some teams may not have cap room to take on his extended contract. There are a couple of interesting trade packages out there.

Imagine having a normal prospect with a normal development curve. They play ok there rookie year, they start to get better by year 2. And maybe by year 3 they start to emerge as a really good prospect. That means in sim year 4 they will finally be really good value.

Also if you pick a bad player that guy instantly becomes a bad contract. There is plenty of risk to the draft. We seem to be only referencing like 1 or 2 players because they are generationally good.

Or you could have a Robinson/Herro situation and even if they're just role players, they're on fantastic contracts regardless. Though I heard a rumor that Mitch is just a rim runner, so Context might've overpaid on that one.

absolutely. But look at the other picks around them. Those instantly get perceived as bad value contracts...because there are even vets that are underpaid.

We had Slicin paying Spencer Dinwiddie $1 for 3 years. If you get great value you did your homework and probably also got a bit lucky.

I miss that contract, should have made it 4 years. will be interesting to see what he get's offered.

I don't know if anyone has answered this question directly but here's the answer:

We did the original auction in 2017 after the draft so those players were bid on prior to playing any games in the league. The rookie scale didn't apply. Very similar to what happened IRL - crazy rookie deals caused the rookie scale contracts to be put in place to save GMs from themselves. Some teams played high spec on the 2017 draft as the "win now" window began to close on them.

Oh trust, I am doing me. But remember, I didn't wake up this morning and ask for you to sneak diss my player. Essentially giving off a perception that devalues/discredits him. A player I could quite possibly be involved in current trade talks with a participant.

Now everyone here is free to discuss who they want. But better believe when there is a false narrative being pushed regarding one of my players, I'ma respond and kill that false narrative in defense of my player/asset.

A recurring theme here is GMs want to talk schit or drop bait, then act surprised or like I'm the one who started when I address them.
