Then can you imagine what it must've been like to work with her? Yikes.

I don't recall the verbiage she used at this point but I seem to recall that the resentment of a young and upcoming Black female doing the sideline reporting came across as unseemly with racial undertones. And Rachel came across as a complete B. In a business, especially reporting on NBA basketball for millions of viewers on the biggest stage, relationships are appearances mean a lot. Honestly, this result doesn't surprise me.

I just listened to it again today, of course I'm still unsure if I have heard the whole recording but if this is it, it's pretty innocuous. She said nothing about race, she said nothing about quotas, she only alluded to a crappy record on diversity while suggesting she had first hand experience with.

It sounded like someone who was aware of her precarious situation and concerned she was in the process of being replaced. Then she said something kind of in a gray area of 'offensive' if someone squinted real hard with an already existing bias of seeing it that way which gave them the easy out.

Seems like she's getting painted as saying something racist when she just was self serving wanting to protect her own job which she lost anyway. I feel people are playing up the race part of it when what I heard didn't really sound it, more like someone worried about a younger woman taking her job.

Maybe but its hard to serarate it all out because there was a possible perceived racial aspect to her conversation. ESPN is on the fake woke crusade so its probably safer for their image if they just dump her and the show...

Fake woke? You mean how there are entrenched sexism and racism in the society and system that conservatives deny exists at all, liberals pay lip service to and corporations make public gestures at instead of real changes while they offer up individuals as sacrificial lambs to the alter of their profits hiding their true complicity and perpetuation of the systematic discrimination?

Progressives are the ones who fight for the 'progress' of changing economic and social inequities and yet they get painted as deluded radical extremists by conservatives, liberals and the media. Both conservatives and liberals want to continue the system of things that they have benefited from while conservatives do it explicitly liberals do it implicitly but both don't want it to fundamentally change.

Social media mobs from all corners of the political spectrum isn't the way to get real change, it's how to get performative acts to satiate the mob for a moment while the anger and vitriol is amped up higher, higher and higher waiting for the next incident to descend upon the person or group that dares to offend their personal peeves.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

Anyone still believe in Knox?

Dude actually appeared happy to be on the bench last year, as if that's where he really wanted to be. Mentally checked out otherwise. His problems are between the ears in such a way that I see no hope. You have to want it. There are no signs that he does, and it's fcking maddening. Guys like that don't change.

Back in the days when he was getting PT, he never looked like he was going all out. Was always jogging, never sprinting. Never outworking anyone. Sad. It's no surprise that Thibs has no use for a player with these qualities.

We were talking about Ron Baker yesterday. Just think of how hard he played. He would be outclassed out there, yet still able to make things happen at times through sheer determination. How good would Knox be if we simply infused the 'tude of a Ron Baker in him?

More or less ... Specifically I meant patronizing ad campaigns coupled with nothing burger symbolic gestures... designed to give off the image that they are "down with the struggle".

Not too good due to his lead feet and lack of feel for the game. Kinda hard to outwork that.

Meh, it’s hard to tell with Knox cause he suffers from Anthony Randolph syndrome. Randolph looks like he’s always about to cry and Knox…yea.

Despite his face, I’d say Knox still works hard. He tries on defense, even though it’s not great yet, and his three point shoot is more reliable. We just got hoodwinked by Coach Cal and Perry, Mills and Fiz. Knox would be fine if we had drafted him at the right place…like late round.

At this stage, Knox needs to just look at Miles Bridges and try to be like him.

It's hard to believe that Knox will ever amount to anything to be honest. The talent and the body is there but there just doesn't seem to be any fight or desire. You can make a living just on talent or just on fight if you go overseas, but not in the NBA. In the NBA you gotta have a little more of the other stuff. If you're a talented player you need a little more desire. If you're a guy that has fight you need to develop some sort of talent (like a jumper). When you don't, you get a Knox type player. I don't see him remaining with the Knicks beyond his current contract (yep, the "streak" will continue on). He might find another team willing to sign him to a 1 year deal but I would expect he either gets cut before the deal ends or won't get another contract after that (if he manages to stick around for that deal).

That's the risk when you draft guys that have the body and the glimpses of versatile talent but come in with questionnable desire. Sometimes it works but probably more often it won't. If it does work then you got yourself a sneaky great pick (harder to teach talent and size).
