Probably. I'm not even saying Knicks are wrong for doing it. I'm just acknowledging the reality that it's possible there's no "here" here, in terms of a trade, because Aller won't budge off valuation and Ainge won't budge off being a total d*chebag.
The "here" here is both men want Donovan off the Jazz

I love the kids but it’s time and nobody of this caliber would be available anytime soon. Don’t bow down but we still gotta make this happen.

I hear you. Except, Ainge's ego won't let him make the deal unless we bow down. Otherwise, Don would be a KNICK by now.

We have to either get a 3rd team involved, convince Ainge we're the best deal in town, or be prepared to walk away.

im doing this type of deal regardless of the Mitchell trade. You need to give Obi 30 mins and see what he is if you aren't going to trade him for Mitchell.

You can't be like no we won't trade Obi for Mitchell but we are also comfortable with you playing a insignificant bench role behind Julius for the next 3 years.

In theory, that's a good idea.

What if this is the reality:

Randle is traded and now the Knick lack having him as an asset to move later. (Yes, trading Pouty McPoutface won't be easy, at all)
Then Obi gets to play and reveals he is, indeed, Turboboost Lance F*cking Thomas.
Now Obi has not that much value, and the Knicks starting PF kind of sucks.

What is the plan then?

Start Cam at PF?

Randle is not an asset. That’s the problem

Obi might not be one either

Donovan’s gonna have to go public. He has to create some artificial outrage over being shopped.

A nice "the trust has been broken between Mitchell and this FO" article will do wonders

Randle puts the ass in asset.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

unless you are ridding the lakers of Wesbtrook apparently

Yea, then at least it sounds like the Lakers would part with 1 pick which can either be used later or rerouted to Utah.

Sounds like Melo and/or Paschal can be signed too, both who would be better fits along with Obi.

Where is Westbrook going? To Knicks to be cut?
If it's the Jazz, I think they want more than 1 extra pick from the Lakers to pay 40 million for nothing
To say nothing of if they need to move Conley to make it happen

I would say he’s a minor asset right now due to not playing a lot and being unproven but he’s on a rookie deal so he’s still a positive asset.

If he got the minutes, I think there’s a decent chance he would at least put up good numbers. Still definite questions on his defense though.

Overall, think the odds of him improving his value is much better then him decreasing his value if he got more minutes.

Maybe the Jazz. Overall it would cut there salary. I think the Lakers would def take Conley.

Herro, Robinson, a Miami pick and then Riley has to find a sucker team or OKC to get him some more picks.
There is always some team that bends over for Miami or the Lakers.
OKC has picks to burn. Not sure what Miami offers, but this is Riley.

Knicks have crap youth, 3 crap picks from the Burks/Noel trade. Granted, they can trade away 23/25/27/29. Which they don't want to do. Assuming the sticking point is at least 2029.

If I'm the Jazz, I want a pick for taking on the corpse of Westbrook and then I want another pick for Conley, since I could have flipped him at the deadline for a pick in a separate deal.

So, in this scenario the Knick hold on to who? Since it seems Randle is the basis of the Jazz trade. Or is this in addition?

If it's in addition, It's Randle so the Knicks can hold onto 2029? Might be worth that.
I don't see the Knicks getting a pick.
