I guess depends on the target. Only problem is it would have to be a expiring off of a good team thinking that Seraphin and Calderon will help them improve immediately for the PO. A bad team with an expiring of course wouldn't make the move because they would want to keep the expiring contract for upcoming FA.

Btw for those interested in the trade Melo motion, the raptors started a poll if they would trade for Melo if he agreed to play there. Honestly kind of interesting that the poll is heavily slated to the "No" option, but there are some logical fans that they would do it in a heart beat for the correct deal.

Some are saying a package revolving around Demar Derozan (realizing he's about to get a mega deal). I seriously doubt Melo would waive his option to play in Toronto but as far as team structure goes, it makes sense (lots of decent players but no superstar; lack go-to option in playoffs)

I am on the "keep Melo" team so I don't have much interest in any of their guys. Just found it interesting that many people on the board didn't want him. The usual slander of "career loser", "ball-hog", and "chucker" are the main combatants of the trade.

Career loser? Melo has been to the playoffs more times in less years than their franchise has since inception

Ball hog? Higher career apg than their lead scorer

Chucker? Higher % from 2 & 3 than their backcourt

But don't let facts get in the way of telling a story.....

Melo - 22 playoff wins

My bad I forgot to count their series against 76ers which was the only time they made it out of the 1st round. **** is still really sad.

It's like the previous poster said, they have had some success for a couple of years and now are feeling themselves. Drinking a little bit too much of their own kool-aid.

If I was a Bucks fan I would understand if posed with the same question because their team actually has a chance for dramatic internal growth with Jabari, The Greek, Kris Middleton, and MCW. Also drafted a high potential shooting guard in Rashad Vaughn. I could understand not wanting to break up a group of guys not even 25 yet to get Melo, but the Raptors really need to understand that even though the team they constructed can improve, they aren't winning anything. Again...they got swept by the Wizards...

Batum is the perfect fit next to Melo. after KD obviously he would be my number 1 option in FA next year.

Why must it be like this? Prime Melo is an elite scorer, definitely offensively geared. He can rebound and pass, but his game is to score. He's a border line chucker......a lot of that is playing with subpar teammates, the other part is he likes to score.

Melo is on the back half of his prime, he's coming off injuries in consecutive years.....and while Melo is a better individual player than anyone on the Raptors.....Melo is the Knicks, but the Raptors are a better team....and that hasn't changed. Just because Raps fans feel good about their core and wouldn't exactly prefer to break that up to get a lethal scorer, doesn't mean that makes them a **** team, especially from a fans prospective!

The Knicks have a brand new team which consists of less than elite parts. Old PG, streaky SG, Melo, and a frontcourt made of one way players.....and Porz, who we all know is a year or two away. You guys filled your depth out, but it's not any good. Jackson claimed to go after a certain kind of player, than signs Derrick Williams.....statistically the worst defensive NBA player in the league last year. Long story short.....NY fans should heckle Raps until they show something on the court, because on paper, there is a ton to be desired.

I think he was actually joking pertaining to the playoffs wins, not literally. I think most of us understand that the raptors for now are better than us but I believe they have a smaller window than they think and should look to captilize on it.

With the new TV deal they would have two guys looking for new contracts that's part of this "core", Jonas and Demar Derozan. Derozan will get a contract probably similar to Melos and Jonas will probably get a shade under that since you must overpay for centers in this league (especially when they are young). Having already overpaid for demarre Carroll, I think they will have limited opportunity for growth unless one of their chuckers (Lowry, Derozan, or Ross) turn into a star.

More than anything it's just the fact of them claiming Melo to be cancer and the poll was about 66% No's. (I think over 120 votes)

Cause that's the way it is. Melo has had more regular season success, which means more playoffs and then more playoff success in his career than the whole Tor franchise. I could go picking apart that treadmill team which it is if I really want but I don't care about it enough to type it out for your foolishness.
