you need to preface all of that with "because she is black." it is the basis for her being singled out in the first place.

It's clear the 'show' about capital hill riot arrests is more double standard justice...

BLM protesters in public streets: felony rioting charges.

Trump rioters storming capital hill: misdemeanor trespassing charges.

Well, damn:

https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/15/politics/capitol-capture-assassinate-elected-officials/index.html

(CNN)Federal prosecutors offered the most chilling description yet of rioters who seized the Capitol last week, writing in a new court filing that the intention was "to capture and assassinate elected officials."

The view was included in a memo seeking to keep Jacob Anthony Chansley, who rallied people inside the Capitol using a bullhorn, in detention. According to Capitol Police information included in the filing, Chansley was notable for his headdress, face paint and carrying of a six-foot spear.

"Strong evidence, including Chansley's own words and actions at the Capitol, supports that the intent of the Capitol rioters was to capture and assassinate elected officials in the United States government," government prosecutors wrote.

I guess laying it on a little extra thick to keep him in detention, but this is loooonnngggggggg jail time kind of thing if they pursue it.

Not even in office and control of congress the dems look like they will folding on the $2k they ran campaigns on....remember how I said centrist dems always negotiate against themselves? Doing it again.

They need to get a $2k direct payment stimulus bill voted on and force republicans to vote against it so they are on record denying the relief to the public before they come down from that number otherwise they are wasting their power the people gave them and will be exposed as liars....again... and lose power to the GOP.....again.

Biden likely will be so ineffectual he is going to set the dems up to fail so they will lose congress in two years and the presidency in 4 because centrists are weak willed deceivers sold out to corporations.

The dems can hope that Trump tears the Republican party in half so his cultish supporters refuse to vote for the establishment GOP. Maybe the Dems will win because of Republican party suicide.

guess it's not a surprise they'd believe that since that's how we've operated. the lawyer should probably make that their defense in court, that they were all literally unable to link their actions with consequences due to whiteness. it would be like the rich kid who killed 4 people drunk driving and got let off the hook for "affluenza"

Specifically in this case the white privilege was having the explicit consent of the literal authority figure, whether it was the President, a Congressman, a MAGA sympathizing police force, the military bureaucrats who delayed enforcement of the actual laws, the law enforcement bureaucrats in charge of pursuing charges, and presumably the judges who will ultimately decide the cases.

Back in the day, this sort of cartel was hidden. Now these dumb f*cks marched right up to the gates on live international television demanding that their enablers keep extralegal privilege the way it's always been in this country.

My optimistic take is that their public stupidity is indefensible and will ultimately hasten the inevitable decline of institutional racism, which ultimately will be the USA's biggest gift to humanity (if we can survive our own carbon output).

600+14 00 is 2k....
"The President-elect's initiative is packed with extended unemployment benefits, rental assistance, aid to small businesses and $1,400 more in stimulus payments, in addition to the $600 already appropriated. Biden wants billions of new spending to help schools open, $20 billion for a national vaccine plan and $50 billion for expanding coronavirus testing and plans to hire an army of 100,000 public health workers."

They're rolling out a massive >trillion dollar relief bill, including provisions that will effectively cut child poverty in half. Not cutting $2000 checks with Biden's picture on them is a bit of a political own goal (if they don't actually do it), but there's a whole lot of money about to be thrown at people that will accomplish a lot of good things.

Kampuchea got me in a time of weakness. Fck these traitors. We shouldn't have to live in fear from these lunatics and all their weaponry. We have a big mental health problem here that has been left untreated due to stigma and other repercussions. We sell military style guns to any yahoo with the money to buy it pretty much unchecked.

From this point forward, any further attempts at insurrection should be met with the ultimate sanction. These people need to be put in check. Perhaps they need their Negan lineup moment to get their minds right.

Prosecutors are now starting to issue the more serious indictments

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/capitol-rioters-meant-to-capture-and-assassinate-officials-court-filing-says_n_6001665ec5b697df1a04b141

Capitol Rioters Meant To ‘Capture And Assassinate’ Officials, Court Filing Says
The prosecutors’ assessment comes as prosecutors and federal agents have begun bringing more serious charges tied to violence at the Capitol.
Brad Heath and Sarah N. Lynch

WASHINGTON (Reuters) — Federal prosecutors offered an ominous new assessment of last week’s siege of the U.S. Capitol by President Donald Trump’s supporters on Thursday, saying in a court filing that rioters intended “to capture and assassinate elected officials.”

Prosecutors offered that view in a filing asking a judge to detain Jacob Chansley, the Arizona man and QAnon conspiracy theorist who was famously photographed wearing horns as he stood at the desk of Vice President Mike Pence in the chamber of the U.S. Senate.

The detention memo, written by Justice Department lawyers in Arizona, goes into greater detail about the FBI’s investigation into Chansley, revealing that he left a note for Pence warning that “it’s only a matter of time, justice is coming.”

“Strong evidence, including Chansley’s own words and actions at the Capitol, supports that the intent of the Capitol rioters was to capture and assassinate elected officials in the United States government,” prosecutors wrote.

A public defender representing Chansley could not be immediately reached for comment. Chansley is due to appear in federal court on Friday.

The prosecutors’ assessment comes as prosecutors and federal agents have begun bringing more serious charges tied to violence at the Capitol, including revealing cases Thursday against one man, retired firefighter Robert Sanford, on charges that he hurled a fire extinguisher at the head of one police officer and another, Peter Stager, of beating a different officer with a pole bearing an American flag.

In Chansley’s case, prosecutors said the charges “involve active participation in an insurrection attempting to violently overthrow the United States government,” and warned that “the insurrection is still in progress” as law enforcement prepares for more demonstrations in Washington and state capitals.

They also suggested he suffers from drug abuse and mental illness, and told the judge he poses a serious flight risk.

“Chansley has spoken openly about his belief that he is an alien, a higher being, and he is here on Earth to ascend to another reality,” they wrote.

The Justice Department has brought more than 80 criminal cases in connection with the violent riots at the U.S. Capitol last week, in which Trump’s supporters stormed the building, ransacked offices and in some cases, attacked police.

Many of the people charged so far were easily tracked down by the FBI, which has more than 200 suspects, thanks in large part to videos and photos posted on social media.

Michael Sherwin, the Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, has said that while many of the initial charges may seem minor, he expects much more serious charges to be filed as the Justice Department continues its investigation.
