If Randle is as good as he was last year and RJ makes another jump adding Fournier and Denis isn't really the end of the world depending on how what their contracts look like. It should make the team better and upgrade our offense. Is it my ideal offseason? Not at all but I'm not really in love with any of the options on the table. I'd still like them to make a play for Lonzo cuz it seems like the Bulls convinced that's the key to getting Lavine to stay so I'd rather steal him to make that pitch ourselves.

I'm not gonna completely overreact until we know for sure, but I really don't like a lot of the rumors/proposals that are going around

Fournier and Schroder are fine enough, and definitely upgrades from Bullock and Payton, but they're not worth the 20 mil per they're reportedly looking for

Randle/Obi

Isn't a bad team, per se, but it's not doing much for us, and we'd have to trade one of Randle/Schroder/Fournier to free up max cap space (only one of them assuming no other long term deals, cause we'd have around 15 mil in space next offseason with all of them on the team)

It wouldn't be the absolute worst thing for us, especially if the idea is to stay in that good, not great area, make sure we don't fall out of the playoffs next year, and then hope we can land a star in 2022, but I wouldn't love it, either

This is just not a very good free agent class, and I really don't want to commit money to guys just because we have it to spend, then try to trade them to open up cap space again in the future. I'd feel the same way I felt about the draft class, it's fine, but not amazing or anything.

At this point, I just hope they don’t fuq up the future with long-term deals for average players. I don’t want anymore Howard Eisley, Shandon Anderson, Jerome James, Jared Jeffries, and Joakim Noah type deals.

Payton is 43/29. Smart is 40/33 - Marginal improvement. And we still have to give assets to get Smart. And he will be paid next season.

I hate to break it to you and this guy but odds are, that's the plan and it's not a bad one if you do some homework. If we are over the cap we'll need to send out equal value in any trade. Let's use Lillard for example:

If he starts the year with Portland and it goes badly, he's going to request a trade and he's not going to request a trade to a team that stinks. On paper, Fournier and Schroder makes this team better so you're doing what you need to do to remain an attractive destination. Now look at the trade itself... we are going to have to match salary which is about $40 mil. If you throw them Schroder (since they need a PG now) as the main piece salary-wise then you can build off that with complementary players and picks. It also makes it way easier to find a third team that might have an expiring deal they want to dump.

It's not my ideal scenario but it's certainly not LOL KNICKZ like so many want it to be.
