He wants the money, New York and a contending team.

What he can have:

a) New York and a contending team (sign as a free agent)
b) New York and the money (via trade with our assets gone)
c) New Jersey and the money (via trade with their assets gone)
d) Dallas and the money and a contending team.

There is no way he will get all of his wishes, and he will surely not choose the Knicks over money.

So it's Jordan Hill (who is not doing anything really) for two Max slots. Yeah the other teams gave up less to deal guys like Hinrich, but Jeffries was worse than Hinrich and the bottom line IS the bottom line: Doesn't look like some great trade for Houston at all right now. They're in line to get nothing much out of it.

but it severely limited our assets we can use to get someone to fill that max slot

what does that mean? who are knicks getting?

ESPN? ESPN 2? ESPN News?

Lol my bad...ESPN radio. I have "Carmelo" opened up in a realtime google search...just came up lol.

@soby22, he has not been traded. Nobody knows where he is going...all we know is where he wants to go and he has voided two trades with the Nets by not signing the extension already.

He wants to do what's best for his family also though...hasn't he said that before? Lala does not want to be in Texas...c'mon lol.

If he's as stubborn though as you think, he can wait until the trade deadline, at which point Denver will have no leverage and will take the Knicks offer.

Kerr doesn't think Orlando is better than Miami or Boston.

Being the Knicks/Nets - easier than being Orlando because it was similar to what happened in Phx - really good team, over cap, but not good enough to win title.

Orlando had to swing for the fences.

If Knicks/Nets - on way up, room for growth, less pressure from fanbase / more fun on the way up.

Person on W/Kerr says the NY is the smartest choice - D'Antoni/STAT

Kerr says - friends with Amar'e, great fit, knock down shooters, does NY have enough, says if Denver not taking NYs deal (shows he knows nothing about the Knicks picks lol...)

Mid-late first round picks are overrated.

Did someone say that Ric Bucher heard that Melo might still wait it out till free agency?

Anyone hear this and/or have a link?

Is there ANY chance that we are surprised by a Melo to the Knicks trade? Is it possible that Donnie could swing something out of nowhere? Even though all the rumors are saying otherwise.

doubt it

the one thing here that we dont have is secrecy....everything is out there, whether its from melo's crew, sheridan, etc..i think the public will know where he is going ahead of time w/out a surprise

Are you searching for every possible reason for Melo not to come? Do you not tire of being wrong and ridiculed? Are you a Knick fan? Are you this miserable in real life?

someone posted that like a day or two ago, that he might prefer to wait so the knicks could be a stronger team when he comes.

Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.
Due to Denver and Orlando being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Denver and Orlando had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Are you saying hypothetically or are you implying that Denver would actually agree to this? JRich is a FA so there's quite a real possibilityt hey will have dealt Melo for nothing.

It has been speculated that Orlando is one of the teams willing to take on Melo as a rental. They would have to add draft picks or cash with JRich to make it attractive. While not the best possible offer that may be on the table, it is conceivable that Denver may do it if other deals fall through. Denver saves on Lux Tax (JRich makes less), they get cash, they get cap space next season, and they may get a pick or two.

Cuban says rumors are not true

"If [Berger] is going to make things up, the reporter should at least be honest enough to say he is making things up," Cuban said. "Not one grain of truth to anything he said.

I thought the Magic would be a team to watch even after the trade...from a talent perspective/picks perspective, they do not have what it takes to get him.

i bet he's not making it up. somebody in denver's organization probably told him that. they're trying to create competition. maybe fool the nets into taking melo without an extension.
